Celebrate A Blood Red Black Halloween With WARFIELD

Spooky Season is here once more and what better way of getting ready than throwing yourself into the new single by WARFIELD – the so aptly-titled “Black Halloween”?

 “For years,” says frontman Justin Warfield, “I’ve dreamed of writing a Halloween song which could not only be the kind of song I wished existed for my own playlists and listening, but so that I could contribute something to the pantheon if you will. Like, why can’t I write an evergreen holiday song for the goths, punks, death rockers, and freaks who live it before and after October?”

And then it happened, unplanned and unexpected.  “One day I walked in the studio, picked up a guitar, and immediately started playing. As luck would have it, and as sometimes is the case, what came off my fingers straight away felt right.”

Rather than record it in a traditional way, however, “I took to Instagram and went live, writing the song in front of a live audience. At the end, I gave away the title, and tucked it away as I got ready for a tour.

“A few days before the tour, I wrote the chorus, but I still wasn’t happy with the verses. Then, a few hours before I had to leave for the airport for a European tour, I sat down, rewrote the verses, sang them, did a rough mix of the song, sent it off to the label, and to my mixer so he could put the finishing touches on it while I was flying overseas.”

The result first appeared as a truly captivating video this time last year.

Today, however, this joyous, rambunctious and deliriously illustrative celebration of lifestyle, culture and lust makes its vinyl debut, but NOT, surprisingly, on scary black vinyl.

No, this one is bright red, blood red, and to make things even more entrancing (not to mention exclusive), there’ll only be 85 copies pressed – a super limited white label edition that is a must-have not just for WARFIELD’s dedicated band of followers, but for everyone who celebrates Halloween by digging out their seasonal singles and spinning them through the night.

And you can flip it over, too, because the b-side features a hypnotic remix by acclaimed darkwave duo The KVB!

“I tasked myself with a heavy lift,” concludes Justin, “to not only write something I loved, but which could stand the test of time, and though it came about in a truly unorthodox manner, and was finished just in the nick of time, I have to say I’m really pleased with how it turned out, and cannot wait for people to hear it and hopefully make it a part of their tradition and lives”.

“Sleep with all the lights on,” sings Justin… and indeed, you should.  But only so you can see what you’re doing, while you do it, and who you’re doing it with.  Happy Halloween!

SHE WANTS REVENGE frontman Justin Warfield lets fly new singer “Jet Plane”

With their poptastic debut single “All The Fun (Kiss Kiss Kiss)” still reaping acclaim, WARFIELD – the exciting new project led by She Wants revenge lyricist and frontman Justin Warfield – release their follow-up today.
Taken again from the forthcoming Deathrock Devotionals Vol I EP, “Jet Plane” marries an irresistibly propulsive groove to the descriptive storytelling for which Warfield has forever been renowned.   And it’s aptly-titled, too. As Justin puts it, “Jet Plane” “sounds like just one; full speed, propulsion, engine on red, and all go-go-go.” 
“Jet Plane” calls to mind the B-52’s and The Pretenders, but it broods with Justin’s own signature tone, imagery, and rapid-fire flow. With a beat you can’t help but move to, and an earworm chorus you will be singing before you’ve even finished listening to it, “Jet Plane” is youthful, undeniable, and will transport you to an underground all-ages party in an East LA warehouse where Manchester is the mindset.
Add the very ghostly reference  of the refrain of “Sympathy to the Devil”  to the brew (you’ll know it when you hear it), and anticipation for the EP is only going to grow stronger in its aftermath.
Justin describes WARFIELD as his first “proper” solo release since he co-founded She Wants Revenge in 2004, and whose self-titled release singlehandedly realigned the future of the Dark Alternative scene – “it’s the only recording and touring project I’ve helmed outside of SWR.”  The band itself, however, is by no means out of circulation – in the months to come, She Wants Revenge will be appearing at both Los Angeles’ famed Cruel World Festival and Forever Now, the sister festival in Milton Keynes, England.
But WARFIELD, too, will be on the road, playing their first ever live show at an EP release party in Echo Park, Los Angeles on March 29th, before launching a full European/UK tour in June, and North American tours in the Summer and Fall.
In the meantime, the “Jet Plane” video is here to at least help slake the appetite.

SHE WANTS REVENGE Vocalist Justin Warfield Announces His First Solo Project

Justin Warfield, lyricist and frontman of Goth Rock luminaries She Wants Revenge drops his first proper solo release since co-founding the legacy Dark Alternative band in 2004. 
Yes, he’s released various side projects and one-offs over the years (and who can forget his guest appearance with Bomb The Bass way back when? Or the dancefloors he packed with “Live From The Opium Den”?). 
But WARFIELD, he says, “is the only recording and touring project I’ve helmed outside of SWR.”
A first-listen hook-filled high-octane party anthem, “All The Fun (Kiss, Kiss, Kiss)” is the frenetic first single from Deathrock Devotionals Vol I, the upcoming EP out on Black Heathers/Cleopatra Records.  The song blends the descriptive storytelling Warfield is known for along with future goth energy, and a touch of throwback to the classic 80s Deathrock born of his hometown Los Angeles.
The accompanying video, too, is riotously exuberant, smash cut imagery slicing through a characteristically energetic live performance, within and around which the song’s subtitle is enacted by couple after couple – and why not, with Valentine’s Day just around the corner? 
The release will also be accompanied by a robust social media and digital marketing campaign.
This will include: 
  • Servicing to College, Specialty, Commercial and non-Comm radio (specifically fans and early-adopters of his past work).
  • A DJ “ take-over” with Flood FM/Live 105 DJ Aaron Axelsen.
  • Multiple podcast appearances.
  • Visualizers and short form teasers.
  • A micro-influencer TikToK campaign built around a “challenge” from the video, and multiple ads running on Meta and YouTube.
  • Servicing Twitch and online DJs in the Goth and Dark Music community.
  • Outreach to Goth and Deathrock influencers in the Drag, Makeup, Black/Afro-Goth, and Fashion communities.
  • Justin will also be available for interviews and podcast appearances.
