Memoremains’ third full-length album “Toxic Devotion” is out now

Seinäjoki-based Memoremains has had a fantastic year with a new gig sales deal, notable warm-up shows and catchy singles, and now the pop metal band’s long-awaited third album “Toxic Devotion” has been released!

“Toxic Devotion was born in a fairly unpressured environment, researching and living on the terms of the songs. We did what felt good at the time, and we didn’t take too much stress out of the release. The album deals with a wide range of emotions related to human life, from frustration to anger and from passion to sadness. In order not to be too serious, the heavier topics are also accompanied by that famous twinkle in the eye that is typical of Memoremains’ music. The album’s title is based on a reflection on how devotion to the objects of passion can sometimes turn toxic. Whether it’s working at the expense of one’s own well-being or mistreating relationships while promoting one’s own goals, there is a fine line between when good intentions turn into poison,” says singer Johanna Ahonen.

“Breakdown”, the album’s official lead single, will also be the focus track.

“Breakdown is a fun song because it starts with a fairly traditional rock energy, but when the chorus hits, your dancing feet start to move – the disco beat is surprising, but it feels just right! While doing this, I had the feeling many times that ‘can this be done?’ and then I just said, of course it can. This is exactly the kind of song where surprising combinations work better than you could even imagine. I hope the gang gets excited about this as much as we did in the studio,” Mikko Kujanpää, who composed the song, says.

Finnish Memoremains: Stand Up is a full-blooded party song

Pop metal band Memoremains are looking towards their next full-length album.
The album, which will be released later this year, is the band’s third, and has already released the singles Fighter , Stuck and Toxic Girl . According to the band, the new release Stand Up is a full-blooded party song.

“We actually applied for this year’s UMK with this song – just like the previously released Fighter song. This was our number one choice. UMK will have some great artists again this year, and good luck to them for this year’s show! We’ll have fun in the home stands and be encouraged. UMK is a really cool competition anyway. In recent years, they’ve made some incredibly high-quality video productions and invested in the storytelling of the competition. It’s really appealing – it’s interesting to follow more than just the music,” says Memoremains.

Singer Johanna Ahonen, who wrote the lyrics for the song, hints that the Stand Up single is perfect for weekend get-togethers, for example.

“I think Stand Up is a full-blooded party song as a composition and I also wanted to bring a positive, uplifting vibe to the lyrics. The atmosphere is playful and a bit mischievous, just like that guy who forces you to dance just when you don’t dare to go. Everyone needs a little break sometimes, and Stand Up on a record put together offers a great opportunity for that!”

Memoremains will take to the stage in good company this spring, as the band will be supporting the German band Enemy Inside as follows:

Fri 28.3. Olympia, Tampere
Sat 29.3. On The Rocks, Helsinki

Memoremains is:

Johanna Ahonen – vocals
Mikko Kujanpää – keyboards
Aleksi Mäkelä – guitar
Aapo Timonen – bass
Eemeli Timonen – drums

More pop metal from Memoremains: New single “Fighter” and video encourage you to move forward

Finnish band Memoremains drop a new song on the airwaves. The five-piece, which has established the number of tens of thousands of monthly listeners, has already released the singles “Toxic Girl” and “Stuck” earlier this year, but the recently released “Fighter” is a bit different.

“Compared to previous singles, Fighter is a bit deeper and more atmospheric. As for the vocals, we also searched for new sounds to emphasize the nuances of the composition. In the lyrics, I wanted to deal with friendship and a situation where a loved one is in a challenging place in their life and needs support in making difficult choices. If only the song would bring a touch of hope to the gloom of autumn for the listeners as well !” singer Johanna Ahonen states.

The band also reveals something else completely new to them about the song: the song was originally applied to the UMK competition (Finnish Eurovision preselection).

“The feeling about this song was so strong that it was decided to enter it in the UMK competition. We started with the mentality that ‘no matter what, we’ll be in the race!’ However, we didn’t make it this time, but we’ll see if we can another time”, commented Mikko Kujanpää, who composed the song.

The song was also made into a music video with the help of a well-known author.

“Aarni Visuals made a music video for us from our 2022 Nummirock show recording for the single “Empire” from the album “Pop Metal”, and we remembered how efficient he worked and how good the result was. We asked him about his interest in making the music video for “Fighter”, and luckily he agreed to cooperate. In our opinion, the musicvideo conveys the new visual look of the band and the atmosphere of the song, which is sensitive and dramatic at the same time.”
