The band comments:
Renewal is the prominent theme in the newest single by Northern Genocide. The past that is tormented by pain and repentance is about to be burnt in the flames of total earthly anger. The stage is set for a new beginning.”

BIOGRAPHY:

Northern Genocide is a band from Finland playing melodic metal with industrial influences.

Northern Genocide was founded in 2010 in Helsinki. It all began as home demo sessions between Pyry and Rainer, old schoolmates, with the goal of combining electronic elements with melodic metal.

In 2012, when Pyry moved to Lahti for studies, it was time to look for more members to take the band to the stage. In December 2013, the band began recording a 3-track demo in the studio. After some changes in the original lineup, the demo featured Markku Tuuri on drums, Toni Jokiranta on bass, Pyry on guitars, and Tommi Salonen on vocals. The demo Atlantis was completed in October 2014. Work immediately began on a 5-track EP, Planet Asylum, which was released in 2015.

In 2019, the debut album Genesis vol. 666 saw the light of day. The release was successful, and its only Finnish-language track, Ikiruoste, gained notable attention, even making it onto Finland’s Viral 50 Spotify chart. By this time, NG’s musical style had already shifted somewhat from its early industrial influences toward a more melodic metal approach.

In 2020, lineup changes took place. Jussi Pulliainen joined on rhythm guitar, and Arto Viitanen took up bass duties as well as backing vocals. An epic addition was also found in drummer Leo Korhonen, who learned the 10 tracks for the upcoming album in just one month and delivered an impressive studio performance.

The band’s second full-length album, The Point of No Return, was released in early 2024. The album featured guest vocalists Stephanie Mazor and Tommy Tuovinen, along with several instrumentalists who added further depth to the songs. The lyrics, written by Tommi Salonen, criticize overpopulation, corruption, abuse of power, and explore the darkest corners of the human mind. The release was handled by Inverse Records.

In 2025, the band’s long-time vocalist, Tommi Salonen, parted ways with the group by mutual agreement, and was succeeded by Joensuu’s golden voice, Joni Parkkinen.
The band immediately began working together on their third album, which is expected to see the light of day in 2026.

“From the ashes rises a new world, a new chapter” – Northern Genocide released a first single from the forthcoming third album

Finnish modern melodic metal band Northern Genocide released a single ‘New World’ via Inverse Records. The track is taken from the as-yet-untitled third album.

LISTEN: https://push.fm/fl/northern-genocide-new-world

From the ashes rises a new world, a new chapter. The new Northern Genocide track “New World” turns the knobs up to eleven and unleashes their renewed sound. The lyrics for New World were written by Northern Genocide’s new vocalist, Joni Parkkinen.

“New World is a story about how humanity’s greed has driven nature to turn against us. The song gives a voice to Gaia, tormented by a morbid misanthropy and a desire to cleanse humanity of the disease that threatens her. She offers you a chance to reach out your hand and step into a new world — one that lives by the laws of nature.”

— Joni Parkkinen

“The song was created more collectively than ever before, and we couldn’t be happier with the result. Let this be a storm warning of what’s to come from our upcoming full-length studio album”, says the band.

Northern Genocide has always been about finding new ways of combining musical elements without genre restrictions. It all started as an industrial metal project in 2010 aiming to combine exciting electronic elements with aggressive metal riffs. Today it could be described as modern metal or melodic death metal. NG has always embraced the freedom to create music exactly the way they want. Because of that, all of their releases have a distinct sound that has evolved over the years. The first releases ”Atlantis” and ”Planet Asylum” are known for their aggressive synth driven tracks but the latest two releases ”Genesis vol. 666” and ”The Point of No Return” already featured more melodic and orchestral elements. Strong and complex guitar riffs combined with aggressive growl vocals have always the core of their sound.

In 2025 NG  is working on 3rd full length studio album with new vocalist Joni Parkkinen. The album will come out in 2026.

Northern Genocide introduce their new singer and release a new track, entitled ‘Roviolla’

Finnish modern melodic metal band Northern Genocide introduce their new singer Joni Parkkinen and released a new track ‘Roviolla‘ which is a cover version of legendary Finnish pop-rock band Gimmel

The band comments:
In order to create something new, the old must burn in a Bonfire. Later, a new world, the new Northern Genocide, is born from the ashes. Faced with the new, we decided, with the power of a new voice, to pay a tribute to the old. This was the beginning of this legendary Finnish pop-rock song reheated through the grate of Northern Genocide. What would heat up a cold autumn evening better than the flames of Bonfire. Nothing.”

Northern Genocide & Roju live at Monttu New Level Pori (Finland) 11.4.2025

On April 11th, Northern Genocide and Roju performed on the Monttu New Level stage in Pori. The night started with the energetic nu-metal of Roju, whose sound combines the old era of nu-metal with a powerful mix of metalcore, djent and modern metal. The show was a bomb of energy accompanied by the theatricality of the singer who is able to convey strong emotions through the use of various vocal techniques and body movement. Northern Genocide continued the night, combining industrial influences and melodic death metal in their music. The band stood out in their live performance for their technicality and energy with inevitable headbanging.
