The Mon – Songs Of Abandon

Known as vocalist/bassist of the long-running Italian heavy-psychedelic trio Ufomammut, Urlo shares his personal introspective sonic vision with his project The Mon and the release of “Songs Of Abandon” marks the beginning of a new artistic journey.
The atmospheric intro “Smiling Dog” reveals an airy ambiance composition swiftly followed by the raw acoustic piece “Two Stones” that naturally revolves around warm arpeggios and mellow vocals to express genuine emotions.
“The Hidden Ghost” amplifies intrinsic darker feelings with loads of spacey synths layers while the peaceful acoustic phrases effortlessly build eloquent melodic crescendos.
“Mayhem” manifests a dark folk essence as the minimalist guitars have the strength to create a wild rhythmic urgency enhanced by dramatic screams.
Exploring inside our soul “Beautiful Star” still maintains a stripped-down acoustic formula but the atmospheric arrangements have an additional cinematic flair that might lean towards a dystopian vision.
The last track “Your Eyes” has the emotive quality of a lovely nostalgic dream with slow burning acoustic melodies floating freely through delicate atmospheric waves.
Being the product of Urlo’s intimate experiences and distinct musical identity, The Mon aims to reach the listener with a ritualistic and emotional approach and “Songs Of Abandon” marks a fascinating first chapter of an uncompromising opus.
