Rising Finnish metal star Artkills releases cover of Robbie Williams’ Angel

Finnish metal rising star Artkills took Robbie Williams’ classic song Angels and turned it into heavy metal. The band’s version is a modern and fresh interpretation of the old classic, and it kicks off the band’s 2025 release streak. With the cover, the band aims to reach a new and international audience.

“Angels has been in my life since elementary school, and I only recently realized that the song would really work well as modern metal. We took influences from Bring Me The Horizon and added a little twist. Producer Panu Niemi took the song to new levels, and mixer Samu Laaksonen wrapped the song in a solid package” says the band’s drummer Jesse Ågren about the song.

Helsinki-based Artkills, founded in 2020, is a modern metal band whose music combines heavy riffs, danceable grooves and memorable vocal melodies.

The band members are passionate musicians, all of whom share a touch of old-school attitude. Together with the lineup that has developed a recognizable sound, these factors create a perfect addition to the modern metal scene.

Artkills signed a gig sales contract with GramoPop in the spring of 2025. Artkills has already been able to perform with, for example, the band Kilpi, Merta, Awake Again and Ikinä.

In 2023–2024, Artkills did a major “Modern Metal Wave” tour, during which the band has toured extensively around Finland, creating a nice buzz.

The band’s music has also been played on radio. Radio City noted the band’s single “Don’t Follow”, which received rave reviews. “You & I”, released in February 2024, has also been played commendably on Radio Rock.
