SOLILOQUIUM- Upheaval

Upheaval, the new album by Soliloquium, was released on October 23rd, 2023.  Soliloquium is a progressive death/doom metal band formed in 2011 by Stefan Nordström from Stockholm (Sweden).

The lyrics deal with modern life struggles, existential issues and other hard-hitting topics, personal and universal. Loss and strife is a constant, but so is hope and determination. Expect alternating soundscapes both heavy and mellow, tied together by the atmosphere and musical language.

‘Upheaval‘ is a wide open story of being an outsider, living in a role and a world you never asked for. It’s about powerlessness, divergence and the existential question if it’s really worth it all. Is there enough laughter and connection left in 2026 for it to make sense to be alive?
‘Famine‘ dealt with the past. This one is about the present. The aim is to open up the inner world as much as possible, hopefully creating harmony and understanding.
And also to simply unburden what’s better said in music than in a conversation. Somewhere under the layers of doom and despair, there’s a fever dream of hope.
Is there a haven for the fragile in a world without humanity?

Be Fading Fast released new album

Czech Death Metal band Be Fading Fast released their new album «Phobophobia». The release was recorded in “Shaark Studios” and mixed/mastered by Pavel Hlavica.
Formed in 2006 by former “Deflorace” members in the Czech Republic, Be Fading Fast delivers a crushing blend of old school death metal, thrash, and hardcore intensity. Built around vocalist Masters, guitarists Dodi and Phill, and drummer Smetak, the band established their relentless style across their debut album “Victims” (2008) and “Global Attack” (2011). Despite lineup shifts, hiatuses, and injuries, the group’s core resilience remained unbroken. Following years of dedicated songwriting, Be Fading Fast returned to Bzenec’s legendary Shaark Studio to forge their long-awaited third full-length album, “Phobophobia” (2026) – a ferocious digital release that reaffirms their enduring, uncompromising presence in the underground metal scene.

ORDER, a dystopian gothic rock power duo that released earlier this year the singles “Terminal Phase” and “Digital Tear,” continues its exploration of grand, sweeping sounds with a new release. The single “Into The Silence” embraces the listener with both power and comfort, following the path established by the band—a path where dark tones, electronic textures, and hauntingly beautiful melodies exist in perfect balance.

“Like most of ORDER’s songs, this track grapples with big questions. Sometimes it’s difficult to even recognize your own emotions, let alone put them into words. When your thoughts go in circles and your mind retreats deeper into a dark place, finding a way out can be a struggle.
Sometimes, your own strength or capacity isn’t enough to process things alone. One of the hardest things to do is to admit your own vulnerability and give yourself permission to need help. There is nothing shameful about that—quite the opposite,” says Daniel Tähkä.

From the very beginning, the duo—comprising Daniel Tähkä and Saku Solin (known, among other projects, for his work with Turmion Kätilöt)—has infused their music with vivid imagery and cinematic elements. “Into The Silence” is accompanied by an official music video, written, filmed, edited, directed, and produced by the duo themselves.

“When we were thinking about the music video for ‘Into The Silence,’ Daniel threw out a bold idea: why didn’t we make the video ourselves? We were also intrigued by the thought of extending our creative work beyond just music and into the visual realm. It took a lot of hard work and effort—as all great things do—but the end result speaks for itself,” says Solin.

The Finnish death metal band Erase This Earth released a new EP ‘Horrors Unearthed’ on October 15th 2026 via Inverse Records.

“With the world going into full mayhem, the guitarist Mikko got an inspiration from the darkness and the endless sinkhole of despair. This led to three compositions that the vocalist Heikki appended into a story fulfilling the development from seeds of doom into full flourish. Originally this three-piece composition wasn’t meant to be heard out loud but with support from the band, it saw daylight in another studio session strengthened by the full band.”

Biography: 

Erase This Earth is a death metal group from Tampere, Finland est. 2017. The band was born when the guitarist and primary songwriter Mikko Niskanen invited mutual long-time friends Heikki Mäki (vocals) and Antti Ohtonen (guitar), and decided to form a band as an outlet for their heavier riff ideas. Following some years of playing more casually and getting a full-time drummer Matias Rokio onboard, a proper production was started at 2021 with the release of debut single ‘In Their Name’. Right after their first release, ETE played their first gig and completed the lineup with Janne Pihlajaniemi (bass). The band’s first EP ‘Signs’ was released in the spring of 2022 and was followed with a single release ‘Out of Time’ that has enjoyed some attention even internationally.

Musically, Erase This Earth combines the elements of melodic death metal with a hint of tech and progressive styles that mirror the main composers’ personal preferences and musical backgrounds. This keeps the discography fairly diverse with songs ranging from straight warp-speed barrages to more progressive works such as ‘Signs’.

Seventh Wonder announce new album “VII” set for release on January 29, 2027, via Frontiers Music Srl

Swedish progressive metal masters Seventh Wonder are proud to announce the release of their highly anticipated new studio album, titled “VII” and scheduled for January 29, 2027, via Frontiers Music Srl.

To give a taste of the new record, the band unveiled the single “Memories”, along with an official video, available below.

Bassist Andreas Blomqvist commented: “This was oddly enough one of the last, if not the last song we wrote for the album. We were sweating a bit in that we didn’t feel we had the best song to launch the new band with. Then Kyrt did his magic and brought what would become “Memories” to the studio. Mattias wrote the vocals and also took lead on writing the lyrics and we finished them off together. We feel this is the perfect song to showcase what Seventh Wonder of 2026/2027 sounds like and we really hope you like it too!”

With “VII”, Seventh Wonder return with one of the most inspired and accomplished albums of their career, reaffirming their position at the very top of the European progressive metal scene. The album marks the beginning of a new era for the band, introducing vocalist Mattias Olofsson following the departure of Tommy Karevik.

Far from simply filling a role, Mattias has seamlessly integrated into the Seventh Wonder sound, bringing his own personality and vocal character while fitting perfectly into the band’s musical identity. The partnership works exceptionally well, as demonstrated by the powerful and emotionally charged “Memories”.

Andreas Blomqvist explained: “It was a daunting task to go out and find a new singer, as well as figure out who we were after the silence since “The Testament”. I believe we managed to get all the diversity that we could in there in terms of atmospheres and vibes, but certainly not deviating from the well-known formula of what has become the cornerstone of our unique sound”. 

“A new singer is a new face of the band which we hope will reinvigorate the listeners and bring something new and exciting to the table. At the same time long-time fans will probably feel right at home in the sonic landscape of solos, odd time signatures and instrumental endeavors that they’ll be expecting”, he added. “We are thrilled to finally get to share our seventh studio album with you all, and hope you enjoy “VII” as much as we do!”

Musically, “VII” is a remarkable display of songwriting maturity and sophistication. Intricate arrangements, carefully crafted details, stunning musicianship and an extraordinary sense of melody come together to create a record that feels both ambitious and remarkably natural.

That confidence is rooted in more than two decades of musical evolution. Formed in 2000 by bassist Andreas Blomqvist, guitarist Johan Liefvendahl and drummer Johnny Sandin, with keyboardist Andreas “Kyrt” Söderin joining shortly afterwards, Seventh Wonder began establishing their distinctive approach to progressive metal with their 2005 debut, “Become”.

The arrival of Tommy Karevik that same year ushered in a defining period for the band. “Waiting In The Wings” followed in 2006, before “Mercy Falls” (2008) and “The Great Escape” (2010) further established Seventh Wonder as one of the standout names in modern progressive metal. Following the departure of founding drummer Johnny Sandin, Stefan Norgren joined the line-up, appearing on the live release “Welcome To Atlanta” (2016) and subsequent studio albums “Tiara” (2018) and “The Testament” (2022).

When Karevik departed following the touring cycle for “The Testament”, Seventh Wonder once again found themselves at a turning point. Rather than simply continuing where they had left off, the band used that transition as an opportunity to reassess their identity and look towards the future. The arrival of Mattias Olofsson provided the missing piece, opening the door to the next phase of their story.

That journey can be heard throughout “VII”, where Seventh Wonder now showcase a level of maturity and confidence that can only come from a band fully aware of its identity and capabilities.

“VII” is the sound of Seventh Wonder at the top of their form: ambitious, melodic, technically brilliant and deeply inspired. With this album, the band not only opens an exciting new chapter, but once again confirms its place among the true leaders of the European progressive metal movement.

Norwegian Black Metal Band MANNKVERN Signs With Wormholedeath

Wormholedeath is proud to welcome Norwegian black metal band MANNKVERN to its roster. The project will release its debut album, The Harlot’s Wake, on December 4, 2026, with physical editions planned for early 2027.

To introduce the album, MANNKVERN has released “The Former Things Have Passed Away,” a bleak and intense first glimpse into the record’s atmosphere, themes, and uncompromising black metal approach.

Founded by Orkana V of Man Gremmes Kan, Nattsol, Gnipaheller, and ex-Ragnarok live, Mannkvern is the culmination of a six-year creative gestation following Orkana V’s relocation from Norway to Poland. What began as a solitary studio endeavor has evolved into a formidable blackened entity, blending uncompromising aggression with atmospheric influences drawn from Eastern black metal, Norwegian black metal, and old hymnals.

The Harlot’s Wake features seven tracks clocking in at over 40 minutes of theological and psychological decay. Enlisting the precision of session drummer K. Voster, the album is a bleak exploration of the human condition. Lyrical themes draw deep from the wells of the New Testament, Dostoevsky, and Orwell, examining mankind’s inevitable reversion into primal, atavistic patterns.

“The album chronicles our inherent pull toward suffering and our need to believe in failing systems,” says Orkana V. From the frontline panic and desperate scripture recitations of “The Former Things Have Passed Away” to the raw, predatory instincts explored in “Masochistic Displeasure,” the record offers a grim mirror to the modern soul.

The debut also features a guest appearance by Raum (Noen Hater Oss, Sjelferd),Embor of Mother Ov Light, Hellgrave of underground act Grave Silence and Maurice Wilson of German expeditionaries Antrisch, adding further depth to the album’s varied vocal landscape and furious guitar work. Mannkvern is currently finalizing a live lineup and looking to play live beginning in 2027.

Finnish death metal band Of Spite releases new three-track Raisu EP

A distinctive “stumble-gore” metal band Of Spite from Finland, has released a new three-track ritual titled Raisu EP. The release showcases the band’s signature honest and skillful musicianship free of modern studio trickery. Though it still smacks the listener in the face like a sock full of soap on the first night at a juvenile detention center.

The EP features two original tracks and a death metal rendition of legendary Finnish singler-songwriter Juice Leskinen’s song “Outoon valoon.” The release functions both as a cohesive whole and as three separate stumbles:

The release’s three tracks form a thematically and atmospherically cohesive whole:

1. The EP’s opening track, “Crown of Holes,” hits you right in the marrow—from head to toe—with crushing riffs and a touch of progressive flair. Its character is at least as straightforward as a hungover doctor’s handwriting.

The lyrics depart slightly from the more narrative and esoteric path familiar from Of Spite, instead evoking the atmosphere of warfare through the lens of ‘honor’ propaganda.

2. Outoon Valoon. The middle track deepens the EP’s atmosphere, bringing a cover song—familiar from live shows—to the listener in a recorded version. It deviates slightly from the original arrangement while still showing enough respect to avoid committing a musical crime. Check the lyric video from here.

3. Serpent Coil. The EP’s closing track—also featured in a music video—guides a vampire tale toward its final, blood-red depths, driven by progressive metal elements and, at times, punk-infused, driving riffs. With Serpent Coil, the band continues to refine the distinctive sound established on the Raisu EP, blending the power of modern metal with a more traditional, rock-based ferocity in a way that sounds as if reality itself were stumbling over its own feet.

Of Spite is a metal band from Kotka, Finland known for its heavy sound and a way of polishing its work that’s almost as heavy as a deranged prison inmate smearing his own feces on the wall of his isolation cell.

The band is a five-piece group of experienced musicians with a strong background in both live performances and studio work. Their musical influences range from old-school melodic death metal to progressive rock, all the way to Kake Randelin.

Of Spite’s music blends death metal with stuttering progressive rock. This unique combination creates, through its paternal love, a perverse hybrid that doesn’t leave the listener alone with their conflicting emotions.

BERIEDIR Unveil New Single and Music Video “Diva”

Following their 2025 release “Liminal Spaces”, BERIEDIR continue to develop their distinctive sound, blending progressive metal, alternative metal and melodic death metal influences. For fans of Pain of Salvation, Katatonia and Swallow the Sun, the band combines melodic songwriting and atmospheric passages with heavier, more aggressive elements.

Drawing on influences including Rammstein and Machine Head, “Diva” explores a more confrontational side of BERIEDIR‘s songwriting. Its lyrics address the frustration of being judged and criticised by those who lack an understanding of the circumstances involved. The recurring line “Chin high” reinforces the song’s defiant stance, reclaiming the label “diva” as an expression of self-assertion.

The lyrics were written by vocalist Stefano Nüsperli while the music was composed collectively by the five band members.

Over the years, BERIEDIR have gradually expanded their musical identity beyond their melodic progressive metal roots, incorporating darker atmospheres, harsh vocals and increasingly heavier arrangements. This evolution became particularly evident on “Liminal Spaces” and continues with “Diva”, where progressive songwriting meets alternative metal influences, melodic hooks and a more aggressive approach, while preserving the band’s characteristic solemn and atmospheric sound.

“Diva” was produced and recorded by Stefano Nüsperli at Lighthouse Studio, with mixing and mastering handled by Simone Mularoni at Domination Studio. Single Artwork by Nadia Sampellegrini.

With “Diva”, BERIEDIR present another step in their ongoing musical evolution, delivering a track that balances intensity, melody and emotional depth.

With their first EP ‘The Line’ (2015) and their first album ‘The Path Beyond The Moon’ (2018), the band takes its first steps in the local scene of their hometown, playing in both small venues and bigger festivals like Fosch Fest (with Korpiklaani, At The Gates and Fleshgod Apocalypse). But the first real acceleration happens right after the pandemic, with their second full release ‘AQVA’ (2022) that allows them to play in bigger venues nationwide, alongside bands like Stratovarius, Elegy, Trick Or Treat and many more.

With their third album ‘Liminal Spaces’ (2025) and a stylistic change that positions them in a more modern and alternative setting, things take a sudden turn, resulting in a long series of successful shows that grow the band’s attention to new levels, taking their music to wider audiences in bigger festivals.

The sound of the band is mirrored by their unique show and stage presence, consisting of white outfits, solemn and grandiose movements, and an overall angelic and celestial aura, collapsing from immense choruses into earth-shattering breakdowns, delivering the same gravitas of the soul-crushing lyrics typical of this band.

Finnish dark folk act Nobody announces new EP The Birds Know – lead single “You Don’t Get To Love” out now

Finnish one-man dark folk band Nobody is set to release a new EP ‘The Birds Know’ on November 12th 2026 via Inverse Records. An unusual feature this time is that Eliel Norkola-Smith plays bass on the first three tracks of the EP.
