The upcoming, self-titled album marks LEECHCRAFT’s second full-length release, following the debut “Thoughts of the Plague“ and its special edition a year later, which featured the single ‘Purgatory’ in German label Noizgate’s compilation Brutal Vision Volume 4.
Bursting out of its Slam Death Metal shell, LEECHCRAFT blends potent influences like Thall and even more distant echoes of Bluegrass with its signature heavy sound, combining a range of both clean and harsh vocals. The lyrical foundation of the album’s fifteen tracks explores recognizable themes around human
connection and disconnection – plunging into the dark crevices of regret, self-loathing, or the profound grief of something that never really was.
“Leechcraft” confronts the listener with brutal beauty, painting hideous landscapes
of experiences we all know too well.
After years of silence and personal excavation, Finnish musician and producer Savvier Nelson has unearthed a new vision for LEECHCRAFT. The break served not only as inspiration for songwriting but also as a time of intense vocal training, allowing the musician to take on vocals – the only element that he hadn’t previously performed – and transform the project into a one-person force of nature.
With raw storytelling that highlights the imperfections of human relationships, listeners are bound to find resonance in every song on “Leechcraft”. The already- released first single ‘Atonement’ brings back Metalcore nostalgia to process romantic regrets, while both ‘Claws’ and the second single ‘Cram Me In’ explore self- abandonment – whether for another personor to conform – through a brutal sound that beckons the listener to dance and headbang.
The third single, ‘Liquid Sun’, drenched in Thall, rises to the challenge of proving oneself to others, whereas the title track, named after the project itself, musically time-travels to the 1950s and deals with the concept of forging character through suffering. The heavy ballad ‘Dinner Scene’ then paints a gory portrait of a partnership in decay.
But “Leechcraft” also dares to confront the broader consequences of human
disconnection: ‘Concrete Skeletons’ weaves a tale of tyranny and greed that feels all too familiar in today’s world, infusing Nu Metal into its sonic arsenal. Closing the album with raw emotion, ‘Lavender Fog’ strips back the sound and delves into the realities of Alzheimer’s – a theme both universal and deeply personal for the artist.
The fearless reinvention of LEECHCRAFT has undeniably unleashed a creative beast – one that channels vulnerability into sonic innovation for Metalheads hungry for the unexpected.
