Kesä6 festival, Pori (Finland)

Kesä6 is a one day event held in Pori at the culture house Annis, with the goal to celebrate the arrive of June with different generes of music. The event is free for everyone and has no age limit. This year on the stage performed Cliff Barnes, Juppe, Salaliitto, Jam-I, Artkills and Block of Flats.

Moon Shot interview

Finnish band Moon Shot released their second album “The Power” on April 26, receiving excellent reviews from media around the world. Now the band is ready to conquer the stages and let the music work its magic. We had the chance to meet Jussi Ylikoski and Ville Malja before their first summer show in Ulvila and talk about the album, the meaning of power, touring and much more.

Runvila Rock 25.5.2024, Ulvila (Finland)

At the end of May, an event combining running and music was held for the first time in Ulvila. The running race in the morning was a playful obstacle race of about 5 km for teams, in the evening at the Automaatio Areena, both local know-how and a world-class atmosphere were on stage: Two of Us, Syvä Uni, Venkulit, DJ Amanda Harkimo, Moon Shot, The 69 Eyes. Our reporter Cristina was there to take some photos for this gallery.

Rock on rajaton riemu – festival, Kulttuuritalo Annis Pori (Finland)

On May 4th, a free musical event for the whole family and children from all over the world was held at Annis Cultural Center in Pori. The event was organized by the bassist of Play Girls Magazine, Tuikku Asikainen, for her 70th birthday. In addition to music, the day featured an exhibition of photos taken by the talented Tuikko, activities for children and food cooked by her husband. The proceeds from the donations went to Unicef. The following performed on stage: Vesa Rasikko, the Pori Civic College band led by Kide Leppäpohja, Starry Eyes, Play Girls Magazine, Mara (from Mara Balls) and JetBlack.

Ratface, Final Assault, Hävitys, & I,Cursed live at Meara Klubi, Pori (Finland)

On the stage of Meara Klubi vol. 28 Ratface, Final Assault, Hävitys, and I,Cursed performed and our photographer Cristina was there to take some shots.
Ratface is a Finnish hardcore punk band piloted by MC Respektor. It was founded in 2006 in Helsinki. The band’s lyrics mainly deal with alcohol use and drunkenness. Final Assault is a Finnish thrash/punk-hardcore band formed in 2009. Hävitys is a Finnish grindcore band from Jyväskylä in 2010. I, Cursed is a death-grind band formed from Pori, at the core of the bands are musicians familiar from Atlases, Oceanwake and Marto.

 

 

Surut interview

Surut is a blackened hardcore band from Tampere, founded in 2017. The band’s music combines the explosiveness and psychoticism of hardcore, screamo and black metal with the soaring melodies of post-rock and blackgaze. The band have managed to create a distinctive and rich characteristic sound, breaking traditional genre boundaries with an intense and atmospheric soundscape.
Their first full-length “Unelma” was released last December via Suicide Records.
We had the chance to meet vocalist Ville Ylinen and guitarist Ville-Pekka Valtonen after their show at Meara Klubi in Pori and learn more about the band, their music, and much more.

Surut & Matti ja Tappo live at Meara Klubi, Pori (Finland)

Meara Klubi‘s second event of the year saw three very different bands on stage Matti ja Tappo, Surut and Juggling Jugulars. Matti ja tappo plasy upsidedown crossover since 2017. Surut is a blackened hardcore band from Tampere, founded in 2017, that combines the explosiveness and psychoticism of hardcore, screamo and black metal with the soaring melodies of post-rock and blackgaze. Juggling Jugulars play melodic hardcore punk, the band was founded in 1989 and has been active throughout its existence.
Our reporter Cristina was there and took some photos from the performances of Matti ja Tappo and Surut.

Askel, Svarta Havet & Sunniva live at Meara Klubi, Pori (Finland)

Meara Klubi inaugurates 2024 with the first event of the year and three bands on stage: Askel, Svarta Havet and Sunniva.
Sunniva is a fusion of sludge, doom and post-metal, founded in Turku in 2016. Svarta Havet plays post-hardcore and metal that defies definition and ripples in shades of black. In the band’s disconsolate lyrics, the loss of nature and the eco-crisis, fear and anxiety for the future and hatred towards the capitalist destruction machine of the north of the world come to the fore. Askel is a band founded in Helsinki in 2022 that plays cold, painful and loud sludge.

Black Royal, Kaiser & Zombie Eater live at Meara Klubi, Pori (Finland)

The last Meara Klubi of 2023 was held on December 9th; Zombie Eater, Kaiser and Black Royal performed on stage.
Zombie Eater is a Groove trio from Helsinki that offers a cross between sludge and stoner. Kaiser is a three-headed stoner rock band that has shared festivals with Red Fang, Nebula and John Garcia in the United States, scoured the corners of Europe and escorted the retired Slayer to Tuska. Black Royal, founded in 2013, play a devilishly catchy mix of death metal and sludge, which the band calls Death Blues, in 2021 they signed a contract with M-Theory Audio, through which the third and final album “Earthbound” was published on October 21, 2022.
