French post-metal quartet Unburnt elevates the post-metal genre to new heights

‘Elevation’ the follow-up to 2019’s ‘Procession’ showcases four years of French post-metal UNBURNT’s entity composition and refinement.

Spanning six tracks and 45 minutes, the album reflects the band’s artistic growth, both in its production choices and its surrounding visual aesthetic.

Unburnt creates a unique, genre-blending sound that’s both organic and dynamic, moving between dark, ethereal, and intense tones, reminiscent of bands like Neurosis, Unfold, and The Ocean. Their lyrics are rich in poetic metaphors, drawing on personal experience through an esoteric lens.

Formed in 2014, Unburnt solidified its current lineup in 2017 with Yoann Mrle (bass), Julien Feist (guitar), Sébastien Matti (vocals), Nicolas Kempf (guitar), and Thomas Flieg (drums). The band has performed widely across the Grand Est region, sharing the stage with acts like Klone, Crown, Hangman’s Chair, Phil Anselmo and the Illegals, and Dust in Mind.

Following their 2018 EP Æthereal, Unburnt released their debut album, Procession, in 2020.
