Punk-metal trio RiASA returns to its roots – Härmä and his zombie video are rolling like a knife junker on the dance floor

Ostrobothnian RiASA is releasing new music – again! The trio released their album Kolmipäinen hirviö in January, and now it’s time for a single: Härmä takes the band from Kauhava on a journey back to their homeland – in their own style.

“We knew that this wouldn’t be an idyllic hometown song where you watch the countryside passing by through the window. No, this is like a pirtutrokar’s escape through a dark expanse with sirens wailing at your heels. Gas on, straight on the bends, let’s see what happens,” the band describes.

The bends were also straightened in the studio and focused on the essentials. Maybe sometimes less really is more?

“The song has rawness, honesty, attitude and just the right amount of madness. Härmä is a state of mind. It can be bad, but also good. If the song doesn’t make you dance, at least it makes you nod your head so that your neck is stuck for a week,” RiASA states.

The song was also offered for the recent movie Häjyt 2, but this time they’re only content with the band’s own music video – which, with its zombie story, is a real mini-movie in itself.

“The music video was filmed with a familiar crew. The director Esa Jussila, makeup artist Johanna Tuominen and Minja Tuomisalo, who this time took time off from other duties to assist in pre-production, have contributed to (Pri)sons, which has been dubbed Finland’s most violent movie. The movie is nominated for a Jussi Award for best makeup.”

Finnish melodic death metal band Defiled Serenity released their long-awaited debut album Within the Slumber of the Mind on February 21st 2025 via Inverse Records.

Vocalist Paavo Laapotti comments:
”I love melodeath so the songwriting was really easy-going. We worked on this album for a long time, but I’m glad we did. I gathered a bunch of talented people around me for this project and now I just feel very proud of the album and my band mates.”

Album’s lyrical themes revolve around depression, death and my thoughts around these topics. I’ve used a lot of my own experiences in life while writing these lyrics and I feel like it has been some sort of therapy for me. This project is my baby and I want to give it my all.

BIOGRAPHY: 
Defiled Serenity is a melodic death metal band from Loimaa, Finland. It was founded by the vocalist and Before The Dawn frontman Paavo Laapotti in 2021. The band’s music is for the fans of old In Flames, Amorphis, Amon Amarth, Dark Tranquillity etc. Their sound relies heavily on the 90’s melodeath sound, but with modern twists. The songs are filled with low growls, chunky guitars, beautiful melodies and tight rhythm sections.

They released their first stand-alone single ”Voices from the Void” in 2022 and it has reached over 25,000 streams on Spotify alone. Since then, the band has been writing new material and now it’s time to unleash their long-awaited debut album!

Finnish groove/alternative metal band Exision released their second studio album ‘Uhreina Ajassa’ on February 20th 2025 via Inverse Records.

BIOGRAPHY:
Exision is a Groove/Alternative metal band founded in 2017, known for their energetic live shows and colourful social media updates.

The band includes Joonas Kataja, the man of thousand voices and also the main lyricist of the band.

Bassist Jere “AV” Ala-Varvi, a song composing machine and the main song writer who brings in so much new material nearly every week that it has to be poured into other projects as well.

The rhythmical foundation, Tapio Haverinen makes sure that the capturing drum beats keep the crowd going.

The groove continues with the rhythm guitarist Nico Välkkilä‘s iron grip and high-flying lifestyle.

The lead guitarist Jarkko Oksman can also be held responsible for the song writing and composing. He stretches chords placing the cherry on top when putting the songs together.

The songs get their final form and polishing with the teamwork from the entire band by getting flavour from politics, movies and games. The band also doesn’t shy away when it comes to breaking the barriers of different music genres.

German dark metal masters Nachtblut will release their new album ‘Todschick’ tomorrow, but they’re already getting a head start, as the new melancholic and lonely ‘Das Leben der Anderen’ music video is now available.

The second single from Finnish modern melodic death metal band Echoes of the Extinct is the first song they ever made

Finnish metal band Echoes of the Extinct has released its second single, Empathy. As the first song ever written for the band, Empathy delivers relentless Gothenburg-style riffs and catchy melodic leads.

The song’s origins trace back to 2021, before the band’s formation, when guitarist Juuso Lehtonen shared its riffs with drummer Jarmo Jääskeläinen. Instantly inspired, Jarmo wrote the drum parts, and within a few weeks, the song’s backbone was in place. However, Empathy wasn’t fully completed until 2024, when vocalist Tero Ollilainen and bassist Kalle Hautalampi joined the band and helped refine it.

Lyrically, Empathy confronts the selfishness of modern humanity, delving into themes of emotional detachment, anxiety, and depression. The song urges listeners to reconnect with their inner voice before despair takes hold. Back when our singer Kalle was learning to sing, he struggled to find quality instrumental metal tracks to practice with. It was frustrating how rare they were. We wanted to change that. By releasing this instrumental edition, we hope to give aspiring vocalists the chance to sing along with their favorite tracks.
