Arnaud Menard and Sozos Michael did amazing job with the vocals. A lot of high-pitched notes in this song. Finally, the drums were recorded by real drummer, which adds a lot to result. The wait is finally over for those who have been following one of Canada’s newest thrash bands, Pythonic, as they release their debut EP “EP 1” this week on September 27th. Featuring five explosive tracks, it captures the essence of Pythonic‘s evolution over the years. From the politically charged opener “Positive Deconstruction” to the epic closing track “Epica”, the EP offers a powerful listening experience that reflects the band’s journey and growth. They comment on the release:
“Pythonic is ecstatic to finally be releasing our first set of recordings. We have been working diligently over the years to perfect our craft to bring it to the masses. What our craft can be described as we have always left that open to interpretation. All of these tracks have been circulated through our live shows enough, it almost feels like releasing a greatest hits album.”
Long-time fans will recognize these tracks from the band’s live performances, now polished and perfected for a studio release. Quebec City, Canada’s heavy rock powerhouse Sandveiss is now releasing their electrifying new single, the title track from their upcoming album “Stand in the Fire”. The single showcases the band’s signature blend of heavy riffs and melodic vocals, pushing their sound into new territories while staying true to their rock roots. Vocalist/guitarist Luc Bourgeois explains the single:
“The main idea for the song “Standing in the Fire” was written during the early days of the lockdown in March 2020, actually after watching the “Rocky” movies with my son. The soundtracks of those movies inspired me to write a straightforward rock song as a tribute to the bands that made me want to play guitar when I was a kid in the 80s.”
He goes on to say that lyrically, the song addresses science denialism and the damage caused by disinformation. Belief and knowledge are two very different things, and unfortunately, there seems to be a blurring of the lines between the two for many people. Sandveiss always tries to push things a little further on every record that they do. On this one, they expanded their boundaries on all sides: the heavy is heavier, the prog is proggier, and the catchy is catchier.
The single, mixed and mastered by renowned producer Karl Daniel Lidén (known for his work with Dozer, Greenleaf, and Katatonia), offers listeners a fresh, textured sound that elevates Sandveiss‘ already impressive sonic palette. For fans of heavy rock with progressive elements and powerful melodies, “Stand in the Fire” is a must-listen, especially for those with an interest in Mastodon, The Sword, and Dozer.

Spanish black metal band Kreyl will release their debut album “Obscure Rise of Ancient Eulogy” on October 18, 2024 via Finnish Inverse Records. The second single Nekromanteion of Ephyra is released today.
“The song “Nekromanteion of Ephyra”, describes the necromantic temple near the city of Ephira in ancient Greece, which the devotees believed to be the gate to Hades. It tells of the dark path taken by the faithful, the macabre ceremonies, rituals, offerings and sacrifices, as votive and propitiatory gestures”.
BIOGRAPHY:
The Kreyl project was born in the winter of 2020, in the city of Barcelona (Catalonia/Spain), from an idea of Virus Tremor, guitarist of the band and also guitarist of the black metal band Nefasta and the brutal death metal band Handle with Hate. The project was inspired by the album “I” of the Finnish black metal band Hedonihil and by many other bands of the second wave of black metal. Later on, the Kreyl project was joined by: Croma Lan Ro as drummer, former drummer of the black metal band Fogos; Necrum Nebulas as bassist and former member of the brutal death bands Caustic and Handle with Hate; I. Luna as guitarist, former member of the brutal death band Caustic and Eris Nocturna Aura on vocals, former singer in the black metal band Nefasta and mastermind of the solo dark ambient project Aetheria (Italy).
Kreyl’s idea is to move away from the usual themes centered on Satan and anti-Christianity to focus more on historical-cultural themes closely linked to the concept of death, occultism, ancient civilizations, also exalting the most raw, violent and brutal local mythology and paganism from a philosophical and dark point of view.

The “Ultra Bra of symphonic doom metal” aka the seven-piece Infirmum release their second studio album “From The Depths I Cried” today. A good foretaste of the multifaceted ensemble released through Earache Records was already received earlier this fall, when the band released their single “Burn” with a spectacular visualiser video.
Infirmum’s large crew of seven are familiar people from the metal field; the band’s current or past bands include Lordi, Sanctuary of Hate, Grain of Pain, Moonwitch, Pettalom, Mourning Wood and Deathlike Silence.
For the now-published ensemble, the rather accomplished orchestra made two albums worth of songs, together with Juho Räihä, known from the band Swallow The Sun, acting as the producer of the new album.
“Some of the songs were already structurally ready when the EP was released, but they didn’t make it to that release. So it was quite a long process to complete this album. Many songs were left on the shelf after the selections, because we didn’t want to make a double album. Maybe some of them will be released later, but you’ll see that in the future,” says Timo Solonen.
The band, which lives in different parts of Finland, praises modern technology, which makes it possible to make songs together despite the kilometers in between. Four years have passed since the previous debut album Walls of Sorrow, so the band’s fans have also been eagerly waiting for the new album.
“There have been inquiries over time and I have answered that it will come when everything is ready. Now it is! I hope and believe that the wait has been worth it,” Solonen continues.
At the same time, the album is the first full-length album with the band’s new vocalist Sabine Blodwin.
“After Sabine joined, the band moved more Naps forward and her skills and nuances from different cultures are heard nicely in the songs. Eliel’s grunts are guaranteed stuff and work damn well. When making the record, it was also clear that the cello had to be given more space, and Elya handled her plot very well. Erna’s keyboards also played a big role and brilliantly bring out different moods,” continues Timo.
All this can also be heard on the single “Deception”, which can be downloaded from the album.
“It’s my absolute favorite from the album. The song is about pain, delusions, disappointments, but also the resilience of those things. No matter what happens, we ourselves are the only ones who can open our eyes, rise from the ashes and move on,” Sabine Blodwin sums up the song.
With the album, Infirmum is also slowly going to concerts, which will be updated later on the band’s website.

2024 FESTIVAL RECAP
The 2024 edition received overwhelmingly positive feedback from all participants—bands, fans, volunteers, sponsors, and the Town of Millet itself. With zero incidents, pristine campsites, and an attendance of over 200 festival-goers, including first-time attendees and our beloved “Deci-Minis,” this year’s event solidified Decimate Metalfest’s reputation for fostering an inclusive, safe, and community-oriented environment.
The festival boasted 34 incredible acts, including artists from across Canada and the U.S., and was powered by the stellar production teams of Prairie Fire Productions and 387 Entertainment.
