The Finnish thrash metal band Indemon released a music video for the track ‘Abuse’ from their debut album, ‘Reclaiming Chaos’

Finnish thrashers Indemon have released a music video for their song ‘Abuse’. The track is taken from their critically acclaimed debut album, Reclaiming Chaos, which was released last June via Inverse Records.

The band comments: 

“Abuse show’s the narrator’s perspective on the conflict in which they want to break free from a person, yet at the same time want to keep that person under their control. The narrator has an obsession with control.

Alternatively, it could be that the other person does not exist at all, and the narrator is actually a voice inside the listener’s head — a kind of inner demon — telling the listener how it wants to get rid of them, while simultaneously keeping them in its grasp.”

INDEMON is a four-piece metal band formed in 2020 in Kerava, Finland. Drawing influences from various subgenres of metal, they blend them uniquely to create a powerful and atmospheric sound. INDEMON’s debut EP Fear of Living was released in 2022, showcasing the band’s ability to create intense and multifaceted metal. The band’s lyrical themes explore fear, self-doubt, and inner struggles, immersing the listener into the music’s emotional world. TRISKELYON, the fiercely prolific melodic thrash metal project masterminded by Canadian guitarist and songwriter Geoff Waye (of Artach and Category VI), has announced the upcoming release of their fourth full-length album, “Maelstrom of Chaos”, due out on November 28, 2025, via Moribund Records.

Known for blending the savage speed of 80s thrash with complex, modern melodicism, the project today celebrates the release of the new lyric video for the track “Of Dust and Divination,” which features guest vocals by the commanding Liv Jagrell (LIV SIN).

“For me, the album’s opening track, ‘Of Dust and Divination,’ provides a perfect representation of what this new album is all about. It’s got a little bit of everything I love in metal: thrash intensity, some black metal savagery in the blast beats, a taste of speed and power metal, and even unexpected progressive twists. This diversity, both musically and vocally, with raw death/black growls and clean singing, makes a great statement. Lyrically, the track explores themes of decay and damnation, evoking images of civilizations crumbling due to refusing to evolve their thinking.

Having the incredible Liv Jagrell (Liv Sin) join me on vocals was an absolute honor. Her power and presence added a brilliant layer to the track, and it was a seamless collaboration. I only requested she include both clean and extreme vocals, and she delivered perfectly, proving she is a true professional.”

F:F:F – Formosa : Finland : Fest. brings Taiwan’s top metal acts — CHTHONIC, Flesh Juicer, and Crescent Lament — to Helsinki

The F:F:F – Formosa : Finland : Fest., organized by Taiwan’s cultural association GACC, is approaching fast! The event will take place on November 27 at Tiivistämö, Helsinki, featuring Finland’s own Lost Society and Korpiklaani, alongside three of Taiwan’s leading metal names — CHTHONIC, Flesh Juicer, and Crescent Lament, who recently released a new EP built around their single The Folded Memory.

Formed in 2007, Crescent Lament blends folk metal with elements of local Taiwanese cultural heritage. Their songs sensitively portray the struggles and sorrows of ordinary Taiwanese people. Having released three albums and performed at Taiwan’s major festivals, Crescent Lament has also collaborated with CHTHONIC’s Jesse Liu — who produced their latest album Land of Lost Voices (2020), mastered at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki.

Also performing is the Golden Melody Award–winning Flesh Juicer, known for masterfully fusing Taiwanese traditional culture, social conventions, and temple parades. The band has earned multiple Golden Music Awards and was nominated at the U.S. Independent Music Awards for their third album GOLDEN Taizi Bro. Flesh Juicer’s work has even appeared in the gaming world — Blizzard Entertainment invited them to compose Blessed Mother for Diablo IV.

Meanwhile, CHTHONIC is regarded as one of Taiwan’s most iconic heavy metal bands. Celebrating their 30th anniversary this year, CHTHONIC’s sound fuses folk music with enka-style phrasing, pentatonic scales, and even operatic melodies. Alongside traditional metal instruments, their performances feature the erhu (a violin-like string instrument), zheng (a Chinese zither), and a traditional hunter’s flute. With an international career spanning over two decades, CHTHONIC has appeared on stages from Ozzfest to Wacken and Download Festival, and are well known in global metal media. Their 2023 single Pattonkan was selected by the Recording Academy (GRAMMYs) for the Global Spin series, and their 2025 release Endless Aeons was named by UK critics as one of the year’s most significant metal tracks.

Aussie Heavy/Thrash Metal Machine DECIMATOR Are Back With New EP Downfallen

Australian heavy/thrash metal force DECIMATOR return with their new EP Downfallen, out soon via Wormholedeath. The release marks a fierce new chapter for the Sydney-based band, channeling their trademark blend of old-school aggression and sharp modern intensity.

Inspired by Robespierre’s Reign of Terror and the chaos following the fall of the French monarchy, Downfallen captures the brutality, paranoia, and political collapse of revolution through a storm of riff-driven fury and relentless rhythm.

Formed in early 2021, Decimator has undergone a few lineup changes, seeing the band go from strength to strength.
In late 2024, Riley Perry joined the band on bass, bringing a new and even more refined approach to songwriting, having been active in projects such as “Of Flesh” and formerly being part of the thrash metal band Paralysis. Unfortunately, 2025 also saw more changes – but Caiseal Duncan replacing Ethan Reeves on guitar and Ashley Pollard replacing Bon Lowe on drums brought even more fire and ferocity
to the band.
Lance Holland-Keen, now the only original member, leads them on, with this single a small taste of the EP due out later this year.
The band are already writing new material for 2026 and playing shows in Sydney – decimating every stage they step onto.

The first performers for next year’s Hellsinki Metal Festival have been revealed

The already-established phenomenon, the Hellsinki Metal Festival, is now back for its fourth time! The heavy music festival, held at the Helsinki Ice Hall, or more familiarly known as Nordis, on August 7–8, has impressed the metal crowd with its lineup of performers every year. Last year, the festival attracted 16,000 visitors and has brought to Finland both international stars and rarer performers who are not often seen in Finland.

As the darkness of winter takes over, it is a good time to take a look at the lineup for next summer’s Hellsinki Metal Festival. Check out the first artist announcements below:

Chilean Prog ENGRUPID PIPOL Unleashes New Concept Album “Quadragenta At Finem Mundi”

After more than three years of silence, Chilean instrumental trio Engrupid Pipol returns with their most daring and conceptually rich album to date: “Quadragenta at Finem Mundi.” A sonic prophecy told in seven acts, this 46-minute progressive metal journey explores the collapse of civilization and the rebirth of life through intricate compositions, raw emotion, and a sound that pushes the boundaries of the trio format.

​“The work done on this album is incomparable to our two previous records, both technically and personally. On Engrupid Divais, we had found the sound we were looking for. This time, once we were in the studio, we realized we already had the sound we wanted; it just needed a few tweaks.”

The band focused on preserving the integrity of the trio format, avoiding overdubs that couldn’t be replicated live. The result is a modern, powerful, and crystal-clear sound, with each instrument retaining its warmth and natural tone. Acoustic guitars, synthesizers, and even the bombo legüero, a traditional Latin American drum, add depth and texture to the album’s apocalyptic narrative.

​“Quadragenta at Finem Mundi” is Engrupid Pipol’s first conceptual album, and it demanded everything from its members. With funding from the Chilean Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Heritage, the band had the resources to elevate their recording, post-production, and promotional efforts, but also faced immense pressure to deliver.

​“We had a deadline and only three rough demos. It tested us as a band and as friends. We had to devote a huge chunk of our lives to this process, writing, arranging, rehearsing, and reworking demos until the songs matured,” recalls Nacho.

​“This album was born from a different place than usual. It pushed us to our limits and presented obstacles we didn’t expect. Listening to the finished album is an auditory delight, a reward for our souls after all the effort and sacrifice.”​

It opens with “Tripel Ultimatum,” a high-adrenaline, riff-heavy track that introduces three survivors of a nuclear disaster. “Vorágine” follows with a whirlwind of acoustic chaos, mirroring the consumerist frenzy and environmental decay of modern society. “Animal Inteligenz” offers a satirical take on artificial intelligence as a new deity, exploring the decline of human intellect and the rise of evolved animals and machines. The fourth act, “Inspireichon Burn,” channels death-metal fury to depict the devastation of thermonuclear war and the greed of war profiteers, born from a spontaneous burst of inspiration. “Vairal Madnez,” the most collaborative track, critiques digital obsession, fake news, and biological warfare, and stands out as a favorite to perform. “Aztral Configureited” shifts the tone to cosmic reflection, imagining planetary alignment as life on Earth fades and a new cycle begins. The album closes with “Ameba Emenens,” a fully acoustic and introspective finale, where a lone ameba survives the apocalypse to restart life, offering a hopeful end to a dark and prophetic musical odyssey.
