Dark gothic metal cult act For My Pain… released their new single Time Will Heal Our Wounds

For My Pain…, a gothic metal supergroup formed in the whirlwind of the metal scene at the turn of the millennium, has made a spectacular return to the music scene. The band has announced that they will release a new album this year, which has so far yielded the singles Recoil Into Darkness and WitchBitch Elite. In between, they also released a special interlude single – the band’s version of Tehosekoittim’s legendary hit Hetken Tie On Kevyt.

Now, however, it’s time to turn our attention back to the new single Time Will Heal Our Wounds, whose roots go back to 2004 and singer Juha Kylmänen’s student days.

“The composer of the single Time Will Heal Our Wounds is an exceptional artist from outside the band. The song was composed by Samu Wuori and the composition was already made twenty years ago. The song was created during my music studies, when we were classmates with Samu. He heard our newly released Fallen album and was inspired to compose the song, which turned out to be a perfect fit for For My Pain,” Kylmänen recalls, and continues:

“I wrote the lyrics and vocal melodies for the song myself. We recorded a demo of it at the Salpausen School studio in Orimattila. The song was included in For My Pain’s live set, but after that it remained in a drawer and was never officially released. Now that the band has become active again, we dug this unreleased gem back into the light of day.”

Upcoming gigs:
24.5.2025, On The Rocks, Helsinki
30.5.2025, Rytmikorjaamo, Seinäjoki
27-28.6.2025, LankaFest, Puolanka

For My Pain…’s debut album Fallen was released worldwide in 2003 by Spinefarm Records/Universal Music and received a very positive reception both in Finland and internationally. The album quickly became a classic of its genre, with the most famous songs being Autumn Harmony, Dancer in the Dark and Rapture of Lust. A year later, a 3-song EP Killing Romance was released, which was the last release of the then line-up before the project fell into the shadows of the past in 2005. The band members were previously known from bands such as Eternal Tears of Sorrow, Nightwish, Embraze, Kalmah, Charon and Reflexion.

Samu Wuori is a composer, sound producer and multi-instrumentalist from Vantaa. He has toured and made music with some of Finland’s top artists during his career. The most notable of these has been the supergroup GG Caravan.

Cult gothic metal band For My Pain… released their own version of the classic Tehosekoitin’s song

Founded in Oulu in 1999, For My Pain… is known as the messenger of dark gothic metal. The vision of the supergroup, which emerged from the metal scene at the turn of the millennium, was to create music that would merge heavy melodic metal with a dark gothic atmosphere. The band members were previously known from bands such as Eternal Tears of Sorrow, Nightwish, Embraze, Kalmah, Charon and Reflexion.

In December 2023, For My Pain… announced their return – exactly 20 years after the release of their debut album. The first singles of the new era, Recoil Into Darkness and WitchBitch Elite, were released in 2024. Although two whole decades had passed since the previous recording, the familiar strong atmosphere and melancholic melodies still captured the listener firmly in their shadows.

Now For My Pain… is offering its fans something completely new, with the band’s version of the Tehosekoitin‘s Hetken Tie On Kevyt classic in the works. Bassist Altti Veteläinen, one of the band’s founding members, says he had the vision to do a version of the song back in 2004.

“This is definitely one of the finest gems of Finnish rock, to which we have danced the last slow songs of the evening and watched the midnight sun hand in hand. Every time I heard the song, a heavier version of the verse would play in my head. The thought of our own version, which would still do honor to the original classic, haunted me,” Veteläinen recalls and continues:

“When we decided to return to the books of the living with the band, this vision also reawakened. Over the years, very few people have done their own version of this, so in that sense the idea still felt good and relevant. We decided to test how the song would work with a rehearsal, and it was clear from the first rehearsal that we couldn’t leave this one undone.”

For My Pain… recorded the song as usual at their singer Juha Kylmänen’s Whiteleaf Studio, which has become practically a second home for the members recently. The legendary Finnish metal duo Mikko Karmila and Mika Jussila (Finnvox studios) were responsible for mixing and mastering.

“In our opinion, the end result sounds completely like ourselves, but still very much like the original work. The starting point was not to try to remake the song or the original arrangement in a different mold, but to interpret a great composition in our own style and respecting the original sensitivity,” Veteläinen sums up.

Goth rock superband For My Pain… will release a new album next year after a 22-year hiatus – WitchBitch Elite single out now

Founded in 1999 and released their first album “Fallen” in 2003 through Spinefarm Records, Finnish For My Pain… will release a new album next year. The band, which started as a side project of members of the bands Eternal Tears of Sorrow, Nightwish, Embraze, Kalmah, Charon and Reflexion, among others, once received positive reception both in Finland and abroad, and dark romance lovers still remember, for example, the songs “Dancer in the Dark”, “Autumn Harmony” and “Rapture of Lust”.

Now this story continues, and the release of the single “WitchBitch Elite” continues the return to the books of the living – or at least almost living in a gothic style – that began at the end of last year. The new single will be released with a stylish lyric video, which you can watch now here.

“When we decided to rekindle For My Pain, I immediately noticed that a fair amount of new ideas and musical material had been accumulated over the years, and it always seemed to come about effortlessly. WitchBitch Elite belongs to this newer material,” says singer Juha Kylmänen and continues:

“The song immediately created for me the image of a rock piece that sounds with black humor, a bit like Dear Carniwhore from the first album, so the lyrics started to come about with an immediate program in that direction. As I practiced and refined the arrangement for In the final form, the song got a few more ‘soft spots’ and the addition of crests and synharmonies was a breeze of candy opened forever.”

As the comeback comes to fruition, For My Pain… has moved into the workspace “Whiteleaf Studios” built by Kylmänen, where the new studio album that will be released next year will also be completed, where we will return to 2003 in other beautiful atmospheres as well.

“When Mikko Karmila, who is also responsible for mixing the album Fallen, was able to organize the mixing of the new single and the upcoming album, the final result began to bubble like Hartaanselkä during water jetting”, says Juha and thanks Travis Smith, the band’s creditor who created the cover.

For My Pain… celebrated its single “WitchBitch Elite” on Saturday November 2nd by performing at the club Toppila in Oulu. The next concerts have already been announced, Puolanga LankaFest on the last weekend of June and Loisto Festarit on August 2nd in Pudasjärvi. All concerts are updated on the band’s social media.
