Rising emo rock band The Funeral Portrait release new single “Skinny Lies”

Atlanta’s The Funeral Portrait continues today with the release of the deluxe edition of their successful album Greetings From Suffocate City. The album will be released on June 13th via Better Noise Music. Today, a brand new song, Skinny Lies, was released from the upcoming album, which is accompanied by a lyric video.

“Skinny Lies is about the cracks in a fractious relationship that eventually break – those little white lies we tell each other that pile up so big that they can no longer be hidden. The song is about that moment when the truth is revealed and you find yourself wishing you could go back to the comfort of ignorance. Skinny Lies captures the tension, regret and raw emotions that come when the truth comes out,” says the band’s singer Lee Jennings.

The Funeral Portrait, who are busy touring, don’t have much time to take a vacation this year – they are currently touring the United States with The Rasmus. In November, the bands will also arrive in Europe for a month. In between these tours, The Funeral Portrait will be touring North America with Ice Nine Kills. See all the show dates here.

The Funeral Portrait’s new single features Five Finger Death Punch’s Ivan Moody

One of the most interesting rising stars of emo rock, The Funeral Portrait released their second album Greetings From Suffocate City last fall to widespread international acclaim. The album was released by Better Noise Music. Singles from the successful album also appeared on American radio charts, and the band has toured with the biggest names in heavy music.

Now The Funeral Portrait is offering their fans a special treat with the deluxe version of their second album, which will be released on June 13th. Today, a new version of the song Holy Water is being released, featuring as guest Five Finger Death Punch’s singer Ivan Moody.

“Before we toured together, I wasn’t very familiar with The Funeral Portrait’s music, so I didn’t know what to expect,” says Ivan Moody, adding, “But after watching their shows night after night, seeing how they dominated the stage and got the audience involved, I was completely hooked. The passion, intensity and raw emotion they bring to their shows make them one of the most exciting new bands to come out. We had talked about collaborating before the tour, but the timing never quite clicked. Then, one day I was in the car and I heard Holy Water on the radio and I couldn’t help but sing along! It immediately brought back the idea of collaborating, so I contacted Lee and we agreed to do the song again together.”

Lee Jennings, lead singer of The Funeral Portrait, says that Holy Water has always been a personal and cathartic cleansing song for him:

“Holy Water is about facing your darkest moments, and gathering the strength to cleanse yourself of the burden of difficult experiences. It’s been incredible to see how this song connects people. Especially when the audience shouts the lyrics back to us, it proves how music can truly heal. Ivan Moody took this song to another level. His energy, passion and personal story made him the perfect voice to interpret these lyrics, and we are truly honored to have him on board.”
