Kosto, a new crossover group of experienced artists, released their first single ‘Kipupiste’

Since 2021, matured in complete silence, Kosto is a band operating under the license of nu metal, which also often visits the side of punk and rap. The music is bold and sometimes threatening, reflecting the Finnish soul landscape.

The band made up of experienced musicians includes Jarno Hyökyvaara (vocals), who has made a career as a professional actor and as a soloist, Sami Selei (guitar) known from the band IA, Tino Jäntti, who worked in Vanguardian and as Wolfheart’s session and tour drummer, Ville Marttila (guitar) and Visu Uimonen (bass) whom are active in I Revolt. From the beginning, the band’s common thread has been that the sound comes from the players, not from the computer.

“The first version of the song “Kipupiste” was already created in the winter of 2019. Later, after receiving the lyrics, I realized that this requires a grooving band, not computers,” guitarist Sami Selei commented.

The band’s singer Jarno Hyökyvaara says that he wrote the song on the shower floor, after last year’s Tuska festival.

“The song deals with the Finnish mentality, where the central part is the idea of one’s own survival and loneliness, even if there are communities around,” says Hyökyvaara.

With the new song, Kosto heads to the concert stages. Currently on the desktop are the soon-to-be-released music video and next year’s debut EP.
