Wrecking Lizzy is a new alternative rock band from Finland. The band, founded last year, bows especially in the direction of alt rock from the ’90s and ’00s, without missing a bit of gloom and emo. The band consists of Lizzy Wilde (vocals), musician John Curtain (guitar and vocals), also known from the band Verhot, and Viviane van der Rosa (bass and vocals). The foundation of the orchestra’s production is created by strong songs and singer Lizzy Wilde’s personal interpretation, and the distinctive voices of Lizzy and John Curtain also play well together. These elements, combined with Viviane van der Rosa’s tight rhythmic bass playing, create a recognizable characteristic sound for the band already from the first release, which is “Happy Happy / Sad Sad”.
“Happy Happy / Sad Sad sneaks up on the listener’s frequencies like an earworm and, in addition to a catchy melody, serves up juicy hooks and genuine emotional fire. Life is not always easy, especially when your head is being pushed in different directions. In the story of the song, there are adventures in the more fragile half of the inner world, where reality can be very shaky. The main character has an internal battle between two different personalities, and in the end there is only room for one and the other has to go…” the band commented.
A music video was also filmed for Wrecking Lizzy’s debut single, the theme of which is excellent for the release that happened at the end of October.
“Making the video was really fun and even therapeutic on some level. I hope this liberated joy is transmitted to the viewer as well! At some point, we realized that the video’s dark mirth with shriveled dolls would be a good fit for Halloween week, and here we are now!”
