Vanguardian, who already presented his own recognizable style on the 2021 “I: The Witchhammer” debut EP, will be releasing an album next year, and the upcoming studio album has not given up – as is also evident very quickly with the album’s first single, “Demolition Hour”, which has just been released.
Born five years ago from the ashes of the thrash metal band Inquisitor, Vanguardian from Jyväskylä relies on the basics in what they do, which only includes drums, bass, guitar and vocals. Background vocals and samples are left to others. “Demolition Hour”, which you can hear now, paints a picture of a dilapidated world that eventually ends up being invaded by aliens.
“It’s that moment of destruction that contains a harsh and fearful command, and you can’t even make the song unsurprising. This song was not made in front of the computer, but together in the mist of the training room. We found that an organic way of composing and arranging works best for us. No gimmicks, but an honest turd pull,” the band formulates.
Vanguardian’s collective machine is pounding forward without coughing, and especially the band’s live performances have been a thrilling experience for many listeners. The band thanks Anssi Kippo, who produced their last EP “II: The Heretic”, but now it was time to take everything into their own hands and make the upcoming album completely the band’s own production. The recordings were made in Jyväskylä in a joint studio built with Jami Honkala and Ville Mikkola, where the band has been able to work completely freely without compromising time or artistic freedom.
“However, the new recording facilities were not the only thing that changed – the band renewed its face and is heading towards the world even more vengeful”, the band formulates and adds that they show the middle finger to all smoothed or inauthentic art.
