Finnish stoner rock band Rückwater have released a new album, Bored Machine, which explores and sometimes criticizes society and the world around us

Finnish Tampere-based alternative stoner rock band Rückwater released their second studio album Bored Machine on October 4th 2024.

LISTEN to the Bored Machine album on streaming services: https://push.fm/fl/ruckwater-bored

The band comments:
“Musically, Bored Machine is a more progressive work than its predecessor (Supernova). The songs have been written with a deliberate risk-taking approach and an attempt to diversify the song structures. All the material was recorded live, as on the previous album, capturing the band’s strong chemistry and groove.

Bored Machine is a strongly thematic work that explores and partly criticises society and the world around us. Follow the Money is about social media influencers who have power because of their large number of followers, but who do not take responsibility for their actions/words. Mental health issues are addressed in several pieces, for example, Look at the Sky, Blue Lake Escape and Waiting for the Ride. Homo Economicus is about human greed, while No More Air is about dictators and authority. N.O.T.S.Y. is about forgiveness and Birthday Boy is a birthday rally.”

Quebec’s TROLLWAR Reveals Teaser & Artwork For New EP “Tales from the Frozen Wastes” Out Nov 2024; EP Guests From Kalmah, Atavistia

Quebec-based melodic symphonic metal band Trollwar gearing up to release their fifth record “Tales from the Frozen Wastes” on November 15, 2024. The band is excited to reveal the stunning album artwork, along with offering fans a glimpse into the dark and epic world they’ve created with a new album teaser. They share their thoughts on the recording:

“We think our album could really be described as a renewal. A renewal of our music and a new maturity for our music. We do think that you can hear it through our songs in this release. “The Unseen One” and “In the Fields of Frost” are both great songs that we wrote a couple of years ago, while “Bane of the Underworld” and “The Offering” are pretty much the new Trollwar that you should expect going forward. These two songs show a clear upgrade of how we write our music.”

“Tales from the Frozen Wastes” promises to be Trollwar‘s most complex and complete release to date, showcasing the band’s evolution towards a more melodic and symphonic sound while incorporating progressive elements. The EP features five tracks, including a prologue, that will transport listeners into a darker dimension ruled by shadows and supreme deities.

The album artwork, unveiled today, depicts a desolate landscape ruled by a higher force, where darkness looms over all. This visual representation perfectly captures the essence of Trollwar‘s music – epic and hopeful, yet dark and malicious. It is recommended for fans of Wintersun, Ensiferum, and Amon Amarth.

EP Teaser – https://youtu.be/-k5SH3biGjk

Track Listing:
1. Prologue (2:00)
2. The Unseen One (7:05) ft. Keyboard Solo by Veli-Matti Kananen (Kalmah)
3. Bane of the Underworld (5:26)
4. In The Fields of Frost (4:05)
5. The Offering (5:46) ft. Clean Vocal / Choir by Mattias Sippola (Atavistia)

Get Turmion Kätilöt’s single “Pulssi” and “En tahdo unohtaa koskaan” book while still warm – Beast in Black’s Kasperi Heikkinen is featured on the single

More early warning has been received from Turmio Kätilöt’s “Reset” album, which will be released on October 25. The new single “Pulssi” also features Beast in Black guitarist Kasperi Heikkinen. Yesterday, the band also raised a toast to the release of their book “En tahdo unohtaa koskaan” at On The Rocks.

“You know you’re alive when you can feel the pulse in your gums. The arrangement and lyrics of the song came about in one evening without any preplanning or notes, the night when the moon burned my face.”, MC Raaka Pee says and continues:

“This time the song was kept really simple and I wanted to include a riff that I could have played when I was 14. So a bit like people finds Smoke On The Water when they start playing guitar. It represents the 90s to me and that high school riffing that I think works hell good. Try it yourself!”, he urges.

A video was also filmed, which you can now watch Here.

Like the previous album, “Reset”, will be released through Nuclear Blast, promises to go even steeper.

“I could say that Reset is the bastard child of our previous albums, seasoned with new spices. It has everything you could want from Kätilöt in the same package and even more. One special thing on the upcoming album is the vocal parts, which are infused with big melodies alongside furious screams – often even at the same time,” MC Raaka Pee adds.

Turmion Kätilöt, who also toured in Europe during Nightwish’s journey, for example, states that “Reset” is the most appropriate name for the future entity. The journey has taken the courage to combine fierce musical and lyrical perspectives – but that’s exactly what Turmion Kätilöt is all about at its best.

“For us, Reset means that we can sum up everything we’ve learned over two decades and add new nuances to the whirlwinds of our metal disco. We’ve raised our own bar record after record, and Reset is our best album to date. We couldn’t be happier about it,” says MC Raaka Pee .

The album includes the following songs:
Yksi Jumalista
Päästä Irti
Pulssi
Sinä 2.0
Musta Piste
Trauma
Otava
Se Mitä Et Näe
Kerran Kuollut
Puuttuva Naula
Schlachter
Reset 7 (not to be continued)

Turmion Kätilöt is:
MC Raaka Pee – Vocals
Shag-U – vocals
Bobby Undertaker – Guitar
Master Bates – bass
RunQ – Keyboards
DQ – drums

Defiled Serenity, the band formed by Before The Dawn frontman Paavo Laapotti, have released the first single and music video ‘Your Worst Enemy’ from their forthcoming debut album

Finnish melodic death metal band Defiled Serenity is set to release their long-awaited debut album Within the Slumber of the Mind on February 21st 2025 via Inverse Records. The first single ‘Your Worst Enemy’ is out now and music video produced by Tuomas Saukkonen (Before The Dawn, Wolfheart, Dawn Of Solace) can be seen here: https://youtu.be/_R4o1oILl0A

Vocalist Paavo Laapotti comments:
”We wanted to start with a fiery track with a lot of kick! The song is about an individual, that has been treated like trash for his whole life. Eventually enough is enough, his feelings take over and he seeks for a revenge. He releases his anger towards his bullies and lets them know their worst enemy. ” ”We started making of the album with this song and clearly each musician had a strong vision of the outcome. I think we succeeded in giving it the chaos it needed, both with the song and the music video.”

Hope Is a Lie – A gentle stroke of darkness at the end of the world – First single from the upcoming album out now

Finnish group Hope Is a Lie is slow, unhurried, and extremely bleak doom, post-metal, sludge, industrial and a pinch of grunge. While the music sounds like despair, and conveys bleak stories of a future without human relationships, if you lose all hope, you have nothing more to lose.

‘Dance’ is the first single from HIaL’s debut album. It’s a story of loss and longing, and about that last chance to find the connection once lost. Nonchalant and creeping, slow and heavy, mixing various vocal styles, this is the song that started Hope Is a Lie.

Listen to the single on music services (Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer etc.): https://push.fm/fl/hial-dance
The band’s self titled debut album is released on December 13th 2024 by Inverse Records and will be supported by three singles: ‘Dance’ (2 October), ’Suits (feat Amber Shadows)’ (30 October) and ’End of Days’ (27 November). All music is written by the band, and is mixed by Markus Alavire and mastered by Owe Inborr.

ARMSTRONG METALFEST Opens Up Band Submissions For 2025 Lineup! 15 Years of Mountain Moshing In The Okanagan

Western Canada’s largest mountain mosh pit Armstrong MetalFest will be celebrating 15 years of bringing extreme metal music fans from across Canada and beyond to British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley with their forthcoming 2025 lineup being held on July 11th-12th in Armstrong at the Hassen Arena.

This 15th annual gathering of metalheads will once again witness two days of unforgettable moshing, headbanging, and camping. From iconic headliners to promising newcomers, the 2025 lineup is set to showcase the best of diverse metal genres, ensuring an electrifying experience for all.

Bands interested in applying to perform at the 2025 festival can submit at the following link from October 1st to 15th: https://armstrongmetalfest.ca/band-submissions/

In addition to band submissions opening for 2025, Armstrong MetalFest has been honoured with the Tourism and Hospitality Award at the Armstrong Spallumcheen Community Excellence Award Show this past September.

The 2024 lineup hosted Los Angeles death metal masters ABYSMAL DAWN (July 12th) and Kansas City THE BROWNING (July 13th) who unleashed their unique eclectic blend of electronicore and deathcore. Also featured were dissonant and atmospheric Vancouver tech death metallers ATRÆ BILIS, and Orlando’s two-fisted two steppin’ double-wide aural assault squad BODYBOX. Returning to the festival, were the Okanagan’s very favourite Black Metallers XUL (Vernon, BC) and Edmonton death metallers EYE OF HORUS along with first-time performances from Vancouver twin brother duo OPAL IN SKY, San Francisco’s outside-the-box prog metallers CYBORG OCTOPUS, and the tech death fury of Riverside, CA’s ARKAIK among many more.

Since 2009 (minus pause years 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid pandemic), West Metal Entertainment and Armstrong Metalfest have not only fostered the talent of hundreds of local bands, but have imported well-known, international acts to the quiet, little Canadian town of Armstrong, British Columbia.

Each year hundreds of metal music fans from Canada and the USA descend into the picturesque Okanagan Valley and under the blistering sun, they spend three days camping, taking in as much metal over two days, participating in wrestling events, scavenger hunts, and catching up with their metal family.

The festival has seen such renowned headliners as Kataklysm, Cattle Decapitation, Archspire, Nekrogoblikon, Origin, Rivers of Nihil, Warbinger, Fallujah, Striker, and Beyond Creation as well as emerging artists from across North America. At the end of the revelry, the festival disappears without a trace, leaving the landscape as pristine as it has always been.

West Metal Entertainment is a non-profit society that not only puts on the Armstrong Metal Festival every year in Armstrong, B.C. but also gives bands opportunities to play at different venues throughout the region including all-ages shows, to encourage musical passion in kids as well as adults.

SUPER MONSTER PARTY Spawns New Single “Blue Hurricane” For Sonic the Hedgehog’s 33rd Birthday Off Forthcoming Album “Rage Quit” Out Nov 2024

SUPER MONSTER PARTY is a band for all video game nerds, jump’n’run enthusiasts, metalheads, 90s kids, weirdos, and everyone in between – a metal band that’s all about video games, singing from the heroes or villains introspective point of view. And: They also have their own, free-to-play, old school nostalgia-inspired 2D jump’n’run game – ‘Permadeath’ (available at https://www.supermonsterparty.com) – with a soundtrack consisting of the instrumentals of their own powerful tracks.

Long story short: SUPER MONSTER PARTY’s music sounds like what your dearest classic video games would sound like if they’d grown up with you during the last decades, while the lyrics take you on a captivating journey into the mind of your favorite gaming protagonists, good guys, and bad guys. The band’s music as well as their game transport the recipient into the world of Permadeath, a colorful blend of classic 16-bit pixelated video game world replicas, which you as “The Hero/Champion” have to conquer, while the soundtrack ties the whole experience together and sucks you into SUPER MONSTER PARTY’s unique universe.

In lead up to the release of their new album “Rage Quit” on November 11th, 2024, SUPER MONSTER PARTY are dropping their new video single “Blue Hurricane” just in time for Sonic the Hedgehog’s 33rd birthday – as a tribute to the speedy blue spiny mammal. The soundtrack of the beloved jump’n’run game ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ undoubtedly has a special place in a lot of gamer hearts but “Blue Hurricane” serves as an outstanding example of what the game could sound like when fully leaning into the little hedgehog’s fierce badassness.

How much damage per second can SUPER MONSTER PARTY do? Lead guitarist Oleh Andrievsky has certainly trained his fine motor skills to a level of perfection, contributing his genius long distance from Ukraine. His lively turbo guitar riffs resemble the fast-paced gameplay of Sonic and the lyrics of “Blue Hurricane” take you back to those moments in your childhood when you had to stay home sick and would just play video games all day and diving into these little pixelated dimensions made everything suck a little bit less. Except of course when you encountered the evil scientist Dr. Robotnik and were faced with the responsibility of preventing the Eggman from taking over the world. Whatever you’re doing while hearing “Blue Hurricane” – you will fondly see the tree tops of Green Hill as well as the Final Zone reappearing before your mind’s eye. And: This track will surely light your ass on fire and push you to finally achieve that super hard Sonic speedrun you have been fantasizing about since your childhood, instead of ragequitting the game for the 666th time.

“Blue Hurricane” is a critical hit that will surely snatch a high score of gamer hearts. There is no doubt that by the end of this summer, every SUPER MONSTER PARTY fan will know the game plan: “And together the whole world will sing – GO SONIC GO!”

Music Video – https://youtu.be/TGmrl3Pk8Iw

Spotify – https://spoti.fi/3zEpX38

Rocking together since 2020, SUPER MONSTER PARTY have already gathered a lot of XP, having a bunch of achievements under their belt, such as four released albums: Permadeath (2020), SideQuest (2021), Game Genie (2023), and Up, Up, Down, Die (2023). The band is the concept of singer/songwriter Rei Sega and features notable members Emilio Martinez (Yngwie Malmsteen) on bass, Fern Lemus (Lions at the Gate) on the drums, Andy Alvarez (Irras One) on rhythm guitar, and Oleh Andrievsky as lead guitarist.

Their intense, melodic, catchy, and heavy sound shows influences of The Misfits, Rhapsody, Slipknot, NOFX, and Van Halen. The variety of different influences and genres, worshiped by the band, means that they are able to find the right metal sound for all game themes – each video game universe is authentically set to music, while the skills of the masterful musical chameleon that is SUPER MONSTER PARTY cannot be pinned down to one genre. No two songs sound the same, but one thing is for sure – they all rock hard.

On their upcoming album “Rage Quit”, SUPER MONSTER PARTY is telling an immersive story that will allow us to dive even deeper into the world of Permadeath. With narrational interludes between every track, they create a bond between the most beloved video games of their childhood and their music, providing a mesmerizing adventurous experience for the listeners. The new album also features Ty Christian aka Fang VonWrathenstein (Lords of the Trident) as a guest vocalist on “One Wing Angel”, as well as Denver Cooper (Vicious Rumors) guitar skills on a solo for “This Is Doom”, and Hugo Lee as guest saxophone on “Dance Dance Revolution”.

SUPER MONSTER PARTY really go all the way to deliver delicious easter eggs to their fans: a co-op with martial arts icon Daniel Pesina and fellow Mortal Kombat actor Anthony Marquez for the music video of Test Your Might or providing guest appearances by Angry Video Game Nerd James Rolfe and Glenn Fricker in This Is Doom!. Every one of this band’s music videos offers a special little nerdy treat, while serving as homages to the retro games they address. LUNA KILLS: Worldwide recording deal with SharpTone Records, new single and video released

LUNA KILLS is the first Finnish band to sign a worldwide recording contract with the American SharpTone Records. The record company works with top names in metalcore and alternative metal, whose includes Make Them Suffer, Polaris, Loathe, Don Broco and now also LUNA KILLS.

“It’s great to be able to announce our recording contract with SharpTone Records! They purposefully support the individuality of artists, both musically and stylistically, and that fits perfectly with our way of thinking. It’s cool to be able to start a new era with them”, commented LUNA KILLS.

The powerful new single “Slay ur enemies” is now being released through SharpTone Records, which in the band’s characteristic style combines dark experiences with wild energy. The single was mixed and mastered by Jeff Dunne (Make Them Suffer, Knocked Loose, Ice Nine Kills, Disturbed).

“The song describes the inner dialogue and feelings during a panic attack. As a rule, the text illustrates the inconsolability of the feelings, but also the will to fight and the attempt to endure the nightmare in question and get through it,” describes the band’s singer Lotta Ruutiainen.

The music video for the song was produced by Guilty Visuals.

“The music video combines the song’s lyrical theme of panic, anxiety and the related inner dialogue and stays true to the band’s characteristic nu-metal/y2k aesthetic. The video tried to create the feeling of being captured with tight cuts, angles and shooting props.”

LUNA KILLS will be touring around Finland in the fall:

2.10. Olympia, Tampere (Lost In Music: Stereo Terror DJ’s, Atlas, LUNA KILLS)
4.10. Lutakko, Jyväskylä (Moon Shot, LUNA KILLS)
26.10. Kerubi, Joensuu (Warmen, Balance Breach, LUNA KILLS)
20.12. Painohalli, Hämeenlinna (Blind Channel, rock band from hell, afterparty: LUNA KILLS)

LUNA KILLS is:

Lotta Ruutiainen – voice
Samuli Paasineva – guitar
Lassi Peltonen – bass
Jimi Kinnunen – drums
