Polish Legendary VADER Issue 2024 Recap + Reveal Plans for 2025: New EP, Reissue of “Black To The Blind” and Recording New Full-Length Album in Autumn

Polish Death Metal Legends VADER have posted on their Facebook Page wrapping up 2024 and revealing some predictions for 2025, which has just begun. In fact, the new year will also be full of news for the death metal band, which will release the EP “Humanihility” in spring, while in autumn 2025 they will begin recording for the new full-length album. Also planned for this year, are the reissue of the classic “Black To The Blind”, and the summer tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the album “Litany”, which for the occasion will be performed live in its entirety.

Vader stated:
“The year 2024 is coming to an end. How was it for the band? As usual, it was very busy. We continued the 40th anniversary of Vader on tours in the USA/Canada and Europe. We played a few festivals in the summer – including Jarocin after 30 years of absence! At the end of August we returned to Grindstone Studio to record brand new material for an EP. We ended the year with the “Freezing Hell” tour, which went around the Baltic Sea. 2024 is also another year played with Michal Andrzejczyk behind the drums. A few months ago, Michał also joined the happy endorsers of TAMA drums.

And what about plans for 2025? The new year will be even more intense. First of all, this spring will see the release of the completely new EP “Humanihility” since the release of “Solitude In Madness” in 2020, as well as the long-awaited reissue of the classic album “Black To The Blind” from 1997 in a new cover with the original cover by Jacek Wiśniewski. Both titles will be released by Nuclear Blast. The recording session for the next full length Vader album will also start in the fall of 2025! Next year will also be Vader’s return to the stages of summer festivals. And we will appear at 20 of them. 2025 will also be the 25th anniversary of the release of the album “Litany”. Therefore, in the summer season, you will be able to hear the entire album as part of a concert set. Most of the songs from this classic album for the band have not been played since its premiere in 2000, and some have never been played. So 2025 will be absolutely explosive and truly vaderish \m/ And we already INVITE you ALL !!! Expect our arrival under the banner of Massive Music \m/”

On upcoming EP, Vader issued the studio update:
“Yesterday in “Spiderclass” studio in Wroclaw we were working on leads to the upcoming NEW Vader EP “Humanihility” for Nuclear Blast.  Mauser works on His part in home studio in UK too. This was a last step before final mix&master of the recording. Scott Atkins should finish the production in Grindstone Studio by middle of January. More details coming soon….”

Finnish deathgrinders Cannibal Accident have released a new music video for ‘Darken The Attic’

Finnish Deathgrind band Cannibal Accident is set to release their fifth studio album ‘Disgust’ on February 28th 2025 via Inverse Records.

The music video for Darken The Attic has been released on January 7th and it’s available here.

Vocalist Kurwa Doktor comments the lyrics:

” “Darken The Attic” tells about the horrors of delirium tremens after sacrificing your mind, body and soul to excessive amounts of alcohol for so many years you have already lost the count.”

Jondom (Bass) comments music and video:
“Musically “Darken The Attic” is quite far from our comfort zone with dissonant riffs which are like made to create feelings of pure anxiety for the listener. Song is one of “weirdos” of coming “Disgust”-album and goal was to highlight how guitar and bass has own place and space in our music even these two instruments aren’t necessarily always playing same kind of riff, part or even notes in a song. This “chaotic harmony” can be heard particularly in this song. Idea for the video came also partly because of the nature of the song. Quick clips of grotesque and graphic content forced to listeners eye receptors are just like made to underline the musical feeling and lyrical theme of the song.”

French metal guitarist Baptiste Brun to release new single “Beyond the light”

French metal guitarist Baptiste Brun has just dropped a new single, “Beyond The Light”, following his debut solo album from two and a half years ago.

This track, along with the recently released “Ode for the Soul” will be featured on his upcoming sophomore album,Elevatio”, set for release on January 10th, 2025.

Available in both physical and digital formats, the album promises to showcase Baptiste’s evolving sound and musical depth.

During this time, he had a revelation about eight-string guitars, which became a hallmark of his musical identity. Baptiste then decided to evolve as a solo artist, creating his first instrumental album “Origin,” an ambitious and experimental work that blends his diverse musical influences, all dominated by his guitar playing. The album received very positive feedback, allowing him to embark on a series of concerts and gain sponsorship from major brands like Ibanez and Savarez.

Always eager to develop his music, he began working on a second conceptual album, isolating himself for several months to compose and record. He, once again played nearly all the instruments. This new album, titled “Elevatio,” explores the theme of transformation in the face of surrounding elements and the challenges one may encounter.

Progressive Collective LUNAR Unveils Emotional Lyric Video “Spring In My Step” Off New Album “Tempora Mutantur”

USA’s progressive metal outfit Lunar is set to release the lyric video for “Spring In My Step” to offer listeners another captivating glimpse into their upcoming concept album “Tempora Mutantur”, slated for release at the end of January 2025. The new release continues the band’s exploration of seasonal metaphors and personal transformation, promising a musical journey that blends intricate progressive metal with deeply introspective storytelling. Drummer Alex Bosson comments on the single:

“One of my personal favorite songs on the album. This song is more upbeat and about the good times we feel revitalized. When you’ve made it through a rough patch in your life and realize you’ve come out the other side. This song has some really fun moments musically and, I think, is one of the more “proggy” songs on this record.”

One of the more upbeat songs on the album, “Spring In My Step” delivers an awesome main riff and continues with positive melodies throughout. The track embodies the band’s approach to songwriting—creating music that is both technically complex and emotionally accessible, inviting listeners to find their own meanings within the layers of sound and lyrical metaphor.

The lyric video, along with the rest of the album, offers an emotional listening experience. Lots of ups and downs musically and lyrically dealing with the passing of time and the effects it has on us physically and mentally. Lunar is recommended for fans of Opeth, Caligula’s Horse, and Haken.

Watch and listen to “Spring In My Step” at the following links:

YouTube – https://youtu.be/mtOhnwOpK_0

Spotify – https://spoti.fi/3W3wzA7

Founded by drummer Alex Bosson (Helion Prime, Planeswalker) and Ryan Erwin who passed away in 2018, LUNAR continues in his memory. This fourth full-length “Tempora Mutantur” follows 2023’s “The Illusionist” and features a fresh lineup with the addition of guitarists Carlos Alvarez and Connor McCray (Vis Mystica) along with keyboardist Anthony Stahl plus album guests Wayne Ingram (Wildrun), Joe Gullace (Thank You Scientist) and Sam Vallen (Caligula’s Horse).

A collaboration of musical minds, and with anything LUNAR does; “Tempora Mutantur” is an emotional thematic listening experience with ups and downs musically and lyrically dealing with the passing of time and the effects it has on us physically and mentally.

“This album deals with something everyone can relate to and no one can escape: the passing of time. We get older, our perspective changes, and we gain some things, and lose others… sometimes the things and ones we love. And we struggle and fight along the way. This album deals with some of the highs and lows we deal with along this journey we all share. Hopefully, the fans will be able to resonate with it and find some solace and aid in their own experiences of time passing. I believe the songwriting has gotten stronger over the years. I think the songs are a bit more well-structured. But I think the overall sound of the band has remained pretty consistent over the years. The music is very “prog,” so it’s been diverse I think from day 1. Probably even more so now than it was at first.” adds Bosson.

Recommended for fans of Opeth, Caligula’s Horse, Haken, Tool, and Porcupine Tree, LUNAR’s “Tempora Mutantur” is due out January 31, 2025, from Saibot Reigns Records.

Finnish black thrash metal band Beatrix opens the year 2025 with aggressive new EP

Finnish black thrash metal band Beatrix has released new EP Deathsent Ceremony.

Listen to the EP on music services (Spotify, Deezer, Tidal, Apple Music, Bandcamp etc.): https://push.fm/fl/beatrix-deathsentceremony

Beatrix is known for their fierce energy and relentless attitude as a live band. Many bands claim to leave no one cold, but Beatrix’s surprising stage show gives the audience a bone-chilling experience.

Formed in 2019 in Tampere, Finland, the band plays fast and aggressive black thrash metal with influences from the new wave of British heavy metal. The band consists of five praying mantis worshippers: vocalist Markus ‘Suffy’ Leppänen, guitarist Aapo Härkönen, guitarist Alois Weimer, bassist Sakari ‘Röppä’ Juurijoki and drummer Matias Rinnetie.

“The release of this EP has been a rocky road. First we had a falling out with our original drummer right before we were about to head into the studio, after that we had to find a new drummer and teach him the new songs. Once the songs were recorded we had some delays with the artworks. Now after almost two years it’s finally being released. For these reasons we’ve already been playing these songs live. There are 3 new songs and Torment of the Soul from the demo which now has solos and the vocals have been recorded properly since I rushed them on the demo a little bit, but you know it’s raw and the new recordings haven’t forgotten this essence. I hope the process with our upcoming full length album will be a lot smoother without too many delays. Anyway, the Deathsent Ceremony EP is anuldurated Beatrix madness of pure fucking filth! See you at the gigs!” -Suffy

The band’s most notable previous release is a split with legendary Japanese black thrash band Abigail, ‘Sacrificial Black Metal Bitch’ (2022), which is a combination of songs from both bands. Beatrix’s first raw demo release, ‘Claws of the Mantis’ (2021), has also found an underground following worldwide. ‘Maggot Infested Brain’, known from the demo, was released as a single with a new B-side in the fall of 2024.

Most of Beatrix’s songs are set in their own world, interwoven into a dark fantasy story that gives the band a touch of theatricality amidst all the chaos. Listeners interested in the lore of the band should read the lyrics carefully, as there are secrets to be found between the lines. The core of the story is still a mystery, but you can be sure that it will include praying mantids.

Now that the ‘Deathsent Ceremony’ EP has been released, Beatrix is turning the knobs up to 11 and will be recording their first full-length album in the spring, which is expected to be the band’s best material yet.

Numento Video Interview

Called “prog bomb”, Numento leave no one indifferent with their aggressive riffs, twisted atmospheres and energetic live performances. The band’s music combines the best aspects of extreme metal and prog metal. Their latest album “The Antimatter Fantasy” was released last June and received great reviews.
The use of the kantele, a traditional Finnish plucked string instrument, makes Numento’s music even more interesting.
We had the chance to sit down and chat with the band before their show at Meara Klubi in Pori, to learn more about the band and their music.

Eartheria & Numento live at Meara Klubi, Pori 7.12.2024

The last Meara Klubi of the year saw three bands on the Winston Live stage: I, Cursed, Numento and Eartheria.
I, Cursed is a death metal/grindcore band formed in 2023 who already have a number of live shows and an EP under their belt.
Numento is a progressive melodic death metal band who express their point of view on psychological matters by introducing us to their fantasy world, their latest album “The Antimatter Fantasy” was released last summer.
Eartheria is an extreme metal band who makes precision, technicality, brutality and atmosphere their foundation, their latest album “Accursed In Sleep” was released last October and this was their first live performance after a 4 year break.
Our reporter Cristina Gregori missed the first band due to an interview, but she was ready to catch the moment with her camera of Numento’s first show ever in Pori and the great return on the stage of Eartheria.

Mustan Kuun Lapset frontman Pete Lehtinen’s second solo single is a dark wave track featuring singer Micko Hell

Pete Lehtinen (born in 1975, lives in Lahti) is a Finnish composer and lyricist. He is known as a frontman of the Finnish dark metal band Mustan Kuun Lapset. Besides to writing most of the material, Lehtinen was a lead singer, rhythm guitarist and studio session keyboardist throughout the band’s 30-year existence.

As Mustan Kuun Lapset defunct in 2023, Lehtinen “retired” from his active music career which started in early ´90s. In the spring of 2024, however, he released new music as a solo artist. Digital single Snowflower was based on the tunes of Lumikukka (from Mustan Kuun Lapset´s fourth album Viimeinen laulu kuolemasta, Stay Heavy Records, 2007), which is one of the most popular songs Pete has written. And like Snowflower, Procession is based on an old Mustan Kuun Lapset song too. Original Saatto (Engl. Procession) from the album of the same name was released in 2017 (Inverse Records).

Listen to the “Procession” single on music services (Spotify, Bandcamp, YouTube, Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer etc:) https://push.fm/fl/petelehtinen-procession

This time, the single also features a guest vocalist. Micko Hell is a singer who was born in 1978, lives in Kerava, and has influenced many Finnish metal bands. Pete and Micko met when they did their civil service in Vaasa 1997. Five years later, in 2002 when Mustan Kuun Lapset released their debut album Suruntuoja (Northern Sound Records), Micko became known to the general public as the vocalist of Denigrate. They released the Taiska cover song Mombasa, which was the theme song for the movie “Menolippu Mombasaan” (Cinemaker Oy). The song like the movie became a big hit. In addition to this, this angelic-voiced man is known for Micko Hell & the Motherfuckers, Million Dollar Beggars, Gloomy Grim (guitars) and many, many more. He has also guested on the records of several bands such as Wintersun and Re-Armed to name a few.

Procession is the first song representing -maybe you could say- dark electronic dance music for Lehtinen & Hell. In fact, all those involved in the production process are experienced mainly in metal music, so this was a big leap into the unknown for everyone.

Procession was recorded by Sami Heinonen (Inferia, Necropsy & Sacrilegious Impalement), and mixed and mastered by studio engineer Pasi Löfgren (Where’s My Bible, Mustan Kuun Lapset). Löfgren also co-produced the single together with Lehtinen. Let’s also mention the nearly ten-year collaboration with Jaakko Tarvainen and Inverse Records. Inverse released all Mustan Kuun Lapset albums and EPs from 2016 to 2023 as well as Pete´s Snowflower single, and now the collaboration continues.

The digital single also includes a short version of the song called Procession (Radio Edit).
