Serpico, who swears by the old-school rock ‘n’ roll, has released a new single from the upcoming album Dressed In Flesh

Serpico from Pori, Finland, who cherish the spirit of honest, sweaty and genuine rock ’n’ roll, has announced that they will release their new album Dressed In Flesh on September 12th. The publisher is the US-based Golden Robot Records, which has long established a reputation in the field of rock music. The first single from the album, Hard as a Cannonball, was released last April, which was accompanied by a fast-paced music video.

Now it’s time to turn our attention to the next single release – Rock n’ Roll is Not Dead, which was selected as one of the releases of the week by German Metal Hammer, is accompanied by a music video for which the band found inspiration from music videos that played on MTV in the 80s, as well as the spirit of the Finnish Jyrki program.

“Jani was excited about the lyrics he had written, and I was immediately inspired to compose a song around them. The cornerstone of the song is the chorus’s shouts of ‘Rock ’n’ Roll Is Not Dead’, which has been our band’s motto and a hashtag repeated on social media for over a decade. I knew right away that this song had to sound like good-natured, sweaty, and attitude-driven rock’n’roll – with Serpico’s own twist, of course! Our guitarist Snage and our studio wizard and producer Anssi Kippo also brought their own ideas and the end result: exactly what we wanted – Rock ’n’ Roll Is Not Dead!”, singer Vee Dour tells.

“That slogan has always been close to my heart and plays such a big part in my life and in our band that I had to write a song about it. I believe that the time is right now, because today’s rock n’ roll is essentially missing exactly what I admired about it. The idea for the song is actually based on the fact that at some point there was widespread shouting that ‘Rock is dead’ and blah blah… That is absolutely not true, but rock n’ roll is alive and well. I hope commercial radio stations and other mainstream media would wake up to this as well,” Jani Serpico reflects.

The music video was conceived by cinematographer Eetu Salmi and drummer Jani Serpico. The video was produced and shot by Eetu Salmi with his team. The aim was to capture a comprehensive street-credible snarl in the old school style.

“We started working on the music video for the Rock n’ Roll is Not Dead single by feeling old Jyrki clips, and thinking about how we could get a similar feeling in the music video itself. We ended up making the video improvising, and we only planned a few main lines in advance. Many 80s videos that were playing on MTV at the time also served as sources of inspiration. Working with Serpico was a really fun experience, and I think the good feeling we had during the filming is conveyed well to the viewer through the video,” says Eetu Salmi.

Cheeky rock ‘n’ roll and organic sound – Serpico releases first single from upcoming album

Serpico, who holds the flag of Pori rock high, delights fans of organic rock ’n’ roll by announcing their new album! Recorded at Astia studio and produced by Anssi Kipo, Dressed In Flesh is made entirely in analog, respecting tradition. With the new album, Serpico was signed to the American Golden Robot Records, who will be the album’s publisher. The entire album will be available later this year.

However, before the album’s release, there will be a taste of the album with single releases. The Hard as a Cannonball single, released today, opens the game with an explosive vibe.

“The story of the song Hard as a Cannonball is a modern interpretation of the battle between David and Goliath. Today, we could talk about the fight between Rocky Balboa and Ivan Drago. The song takes the listener into the middle of the battle, emphasizing its inevitability. You stand tall and fight for your life, because it’s the only way to survive. There is no shelter or escape,” the band says.

“A sense of danger, a brazen rock attitude, genuine and honest playing and singing – these are what Serpico’s new single Hard as a Cannonball is made of. The band has stepped on the turbo gear and delivers a delightful breath of the old alliance. And the song is really confusingly good,” Serpico producer Anssi Kippo comments.

Hard as a Cannonball is released accompanied by a gas-guzzling music video. The video features Finnish Drift Series Pro champion Riku Autere, and the video features authentic race scenes. The video was directed and shot by renowned rock photographer Ville Juurikkala.

“The best thing about this band is their authenticity and desire to throw themselves into doing their own thing 100 percent without caring too much about whether everything is polished to perfection. We need performers like this in today’s world, where both the music business and art in general are starting to be far too calculated and perfectionist,” Juurikkala reflects.

Founded in 2005, Serpico has experienced a lot along the way, including an appearance on the Soittakaa Paranoid program, a custom Harley Davidson that was unveiled during the show, and eventful international tours with Rust ’n’ Rage, Bloody Heels, and Princess. Serpico has also warmed the stage for Finnish greats such as Michael Monroe and The 69 Eyes. The band once ended up performing at a sold-out London club, The Garage, on short notice, where Serpico opened the night with a Geoff Tate celebration gig.
