The Funeral Portrait’s new single features Five Finger Death Punch’s Ivan Moody

One of the most interesting rising stars of emo rock, The Funeral Portrait released their second album Greetings From Suffocate City last fall to widespread international acclaim. The album was released by Better Noise Music. Singles from the successful album also appeared on American radio charts, and the band has toured with the biggest names in heavy music.

Now The Funeral Portrait is offering their fans a special treat with the deluxe version of their second album, which will be released on June 13th. Today, a new version of the song Holy Water is being released, featuring as guest Five Finger Death Punch’s singer Ivan Moody.

“Before we toured together, I wasn’t very familiar with The Funeral Portrait’s music, so I didn’t know what to expect,” says Ivan Moody, adding, “But after watching their shows night after night, seeing how they dominated the stage and got the audience involved, I was completely hooked. The passion, intensity and raw emotion they bring to their shows make them one of the most exciting new bands to come out. We had talked about collaborating before the tour, but the timing never quite clicked. Then, one day I was in the car and I heard Holy Water on the radio and I couldn’t help but sing along! It immediately brought back the idea of collaborating, so I contacted Lee and we agreed to do the song again together.”

Lee Jennings, lead singer of The Funeral Portrait, says that Holy Water has always been a personal and cathartic cleansing song for him:

“Holy Water is about facing your darkest moments, and gathering the strength to cleanse yourself of the burden of difficult experiences. It’s been incredible to see how this song connects people. Especially when the audience shouts the lyrics back to us, it proves how music can truly heal. Ivan Moody took this song to another level. His energy, passion and personal story made him the perfect voice to interpret these lyrics, and we are truly honored to have him on board.”

French Noise Rockers Membrane Unleash New Album Deathly Silence

‘Deathly Silence’ —the highly anticipated new album by French noisemongers & post-hardcore veterans MEMBRANE

For over two decades, French noise/post-hardcore veterans Membrane have mastered the art of heavy rhythms and slow-motion tension, crafting a sound that deepens wounds and freezes time.

Blending raw noise with post-hardcore intensity, they relentlessly seek glimpses of light within the darkest emotions. Now, in 2025, Membrane returns with Deathly Silence, their seventh full-length album, available on CD, LP, and digital formats via Araki Records, Blind Prod, Day Off Records, MaSaret Records, and P.O.G.O Records.

RIYL : Breach ; Kill The Thrill ; Neurosis ; Unsane ; Will Haven…

“Deathly Silence, Membrane’s seventh album, confronts us with a depressing reality: the rise of social injustices, the growing madness of humanity, and the ongoing climate crisis.

Recorded and mixed by Cyrille Gachet in Vesoul, mastered by Alan Douches, this opus blends abrasive noise with sharp melodies, immersing the listener in a dark and dissonant atmosphere. The artwork, created by McVtx, embodies a desolate beauty, symbolizing humanity’s fragility in the face of the chaos that this album captures with intensity”

“Soundtrack for sensual solo manoeuvres” – Cannibal Accident released their fifth studio album Disgust

Finnish Deathgrind veterans Cannibal Accident released their fifth studio album ‘Disgust’ on February 28th 2025 via Inverse Records

LISTEN to the album on streaming services: https://push.fm/fl/cannibal-accident-disgust

Vocalist Kurwa Doktor was caught up being busy with sewing brand new patches onto his inner thigh skin, but had this to say about Disgust:

“After many delays and close-to-nervous-breakdowns our fifth album is out! Available on CD and vinyl, both limited editions. Again, the song lengths do not reach the magical 3 min limit, so in this time and age when everyone wants everything immediately we think that our songs serve as a perfect get-away for persons diagnosed with concentration problems. And the album is a very good soundtrack for sensual solo manoeuvres as well, if you like your act short and intensive.”

Hailing from the Swiss mountains, Tyrmfar quickly made their mark in the extreme metal scene since their 2013 debut. Their EP In The Depths Of A Dark Spirit (2015) and the acclaimed Human Abomination (2017) led to major European festival appearances, including Metal Days, where they earned praise from Daily Rock as “artists who can shake the most seasoned headliners.” With their second album, Renewal Through Purification, and their 2022 release Dialectic of Ego and the Unconscious, Tyrmfar solidified their sound, embarking on a European tour with Gorgoroth.

The upcoming Symbiosis EP pushes the band’s compositional boundaries further, blending their blackened death metal roots with modern influences. A Refugee’s Tale DEREV’s New Video “Tides of Time” Speaks of A Yearning For Home – Debut Album “Troubled Mind” Out March 2025

Set to release their first full length “Troubled Mind” at the end of March 2025 along with hitting the road across Ontario and Quebec (dates listed below), Toronto prog Derev is sharing their next single “Tides of Time” accompanied by a music video. The track showcases the distress of “cognitive immobility”, a mental trap that leads to an effort to recreate past incidents that one lived in the past. By doing so, the person attempts to retrieve what was left behind, leaving them stuck in a place that no longer exists in reality.

Drummer Michel Karakach shares:

“Leaving my hometown in Syria at the age of 25, after having built so many wonderful friendships, memories, and experiences was a struggle I never knew I’d have to deal with until I did. Finding myself reminiscing over and over about my past life inspired me to write about it as a form of therapy. I never knew this was an actual mental diagnosis until I did some research on it.”

While “Tides of Time” may sound simple and straightforward for first-time listeners, the truth is far from it. This song is filled with hidden gems and rhythmic intricacies that can only be caught by well-trained ears. It features a 7/8 time signature layered over a pulsing 4/4 backbeat, creating a mesmerizing polyrhythmic loop throughout. As the song progresses from a mellow, slow vibe to an intense, epic crescendo, a standout guitar solo seamlessly ties all the elements together. It concludes with the same bass riff that opened the track, forming an endless loop that mirrors the song’s central theme.

Watch and listen to the music video for “Tides of Time” via its premiere on Prog-Sphere HERE.

“Troubled Mind” is Derev’s first full length and second release to follow their 2021 debut EP “Leap of Faith”. Derev was conceived after founding member, and drummer Michel Karakach, after fleeing the war in the Middle East and finding refuge in Toronto, Canada, reunited with his best friend, guitarist Armando Bablanian to turn what was once a mere childhood dream into now a powerful reality.

“Troubled Mind” builds on the foundation laid in Derev’s first release, offering a diverse range of sounds from mellow, calm tracks to adrenaline-pumping heavy headbangers, while maintaining their distinctive progressive rock sound, enriched with Middle Eastern influences. Incorporating more prominent keyboard parts, experimenting with various time signatures, and introducing new instruments such as the Cajon, Darbuka, and electronic elements. This evolution showcases the band’s innovative spirit and commitment to pushing musical boundaries.

“While our debut EP tackled broad themes like war, technology, and injustice in the world, Troubled Mind shifts focus to the personal realm. We wanted to explore and articulate various mental states, the subtle thoughts, and inner dialogues that when nurtured and fed over time, makes us who we are. And while we offer some kind of resolution in a few tracks, the purpose of the album is to explore and highlight these different states of mind, rather than try to resolve them.” adds the band.

Derev‘s dynamic lineup now includes bassist Stan Komarovsky, providing the backbone of Derev‘s sound, and keyboardist Ran Zehavi from the progressive rock band Scalar, adding depth and complexity. Leading the live charge is frontman and vocalist Mike Symons to replace previous singer Adel Saflou who is featured on “Troubled Mind”.

Set for release on March 26, 2025, Derev‘s debut album “Troubled Mind” promises to be an introspective journey, offering listeners a relatable experience with mental health and its struggles. It is recommended for fans of Opeth, Dream Theater, and Porcupine Tree.

Unveiling their first single “Cinnamon Moon” this past January, the quintet in offering its next scent of blackgaze with “Perfume”. The track is carried by catchy and emotional guitar melodies with captivating singing, classic song structure and lyrics about nostalgia and moments that will never come back. It mixes elements of alternative rock and post-metal for a sound reminiscent of Alcest, Nothing and Smashing Pumpkins.

Listen to “Perfume” via its premiere on Bravewords HERE.

Single Artwork for “Perfume”

“Pink Noise Youth” is SVNTH‘s fourth studio album to follow their 2020 “Spring in Blue”. This new full-length demonstrates SVNTH‘s continued evolution, deliberately transcending genre boundaries by combining elements of hardcore, metal, shoegaze, and post-rock with unexpected instrumental choices. The album promises to take listeners on a cohesive journey through its carefully crafted track sequence, maintaining the band’s tradition of creating conceptually unified works.

“This album is also full of new things, starting from a consistent line-up change of more than half of the band, the introduction of many new instruments such as electric Indian sitar, clean singing, classical and 12 strings guitars and in addition songwriting goes back to a more traditional song in opposition to the more suite-like approach of the previous album. People will surely welcome it with curiosity.” adds the band.

The music of SVNTH has always been aiming to give the listener emotional vibes. This record in particular is conceptually based on exploring late youth emotions and the music is created for reflecting such instability.

Recommended for fans of Deafheaven, Alcest, and Agalloch, “Pink Noise Youth” is due out on April 18, 2025, on Vinyl, CD, and Digital via These Hands Melt Records and is available for pre-order / pre-save at https://lnk.to/SVNTH

About:

With a various background of musical influences and artistic inspirations, SVNTH (written all caps and pronounced “Seventh”, formerly “Seventh Genocide”) from Rome, Italy has been shaping a unique equilibrium of sounds through the years moving across a huge variety of directions on the palette of contemporary alternative music to create a distinctive soundtrack for inner emotions, life scenarios, and existentialist questioning. Expanding the energy of black and post-metal over the mellow and contemplative boundaries of shoegaze, art pop, and cinematic post-rock.

From the vivid early black gaze melodies of the debut “Breeze of Memories” (2015) to the long song structures with acoustic overtures and Godspeed You! Black Emperor inspired sections of the monumental “Toward Akina” (2017); SVNTH confirms this more complex approach on the double LP “Spring in Blue” (2020), the childhood chapter of a trilogy of colors based on emotions in different phases of life.

The upcoming “Pink Noise Youth” (2025) gets back to a more traditional song format, introducing a unique use of Indian sitar, and an array of acoustic instruments and singing expressions, which develops SVNTH to a one-of-a-kind sound and personality.

As of today, the band has done several tours and single shows all over Europe and in the USA touching even non-frequently toured countries such as Albania and Turkey and performing at notable festivals like Rockstadt and Frantic Fest, bringing a defining cathartic live energy.

Headcat, Delta Bombers alumni announce Voodoo Tones’ “Livin’ Ain’t Easy”

Voodoo Tones, the red hot new rockabilly project featuring ex-Headcat alumni Danny B. Harvey, Slim Jim Phantom (Stray Cats) and Djordje Stijepovoc (Tiger Army), plus CM Wolf of The Delta Bombers, emerge today with a steaming new single, the tumultuous rockabilly stomp “Livin’ Ain’t Easy.”
Originally written by Wolf following his departure from the Deltas Bombers, the song was completed last year after Harvey got in touch, suggesting they work together.
Harvey explains, “I’ve been a fan of Chris Moinichen, aka CM Wolf, since I first heard his voice booming out of a stereo on a recording by his band the Delta Bombers. Chris sounded to me like a cross between Howling Wolf and Elvis Presley, one of the most soulful rockin’ voices I’d ever heard.
“First thing we did was finish ’Livin’ Ain’t Easy.’ Then we wrote a new song together, ‘Come On Let’s Dance’, and lastly worked out the arrangements for two iconic covers we both loved, ‘Sinister Purpose’ by CCR and ‘Break on Through’ by The Doors.
It was the perfect opportunity, too, for Harvey to reconvene Headcat, the shortlived but gloriously savage collaboration with Motörhead’s Lemmy that tore so many ears apart back in 2020. “Right away, I sent our demos to Slim Jim Phantom to ask him to play drums and to Djordje Stijepovoc to get him on the bass; they both loved what we were doing and the Voodoo Tones were born!
“I think you’ll agree that CM Wolf is a new, exciting voice in Rockabilly & Roots music,  and the Voodoo Tones are the perfect alchemy of blues, rock’n’roll & rockabilly. It’s an honor and a privilege to be part of this EP.”
“To paraphrase Lemmy:  ‘We are the Voodoo Tones and we play Rock’n’Roll!’”
Voodoo Tones hope to be on the road soon. In the meantime, however, Slim Jim will be touring this spring, including a number of shows sharing the bill with Belouis Some and Cleopatra labelmates Gene Loves Jezebel.
