Australia’s GREYSTONE CANYON Shares Cover Video of THIN LIZZY’s “Suicide” From Upcoming Album “Something Borrowed…Something New” Out On December

Faithful to the spirit of Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy’s timeless legacy, Greystone Canyon delivers a warm, punchy, and honest version of “Suicide”, enriched by their signature blend of melodic rock and gritty hard-edged groove. Produced by the band and engineered by Joel Taylor at Black Lodge Studio (Melbourne), “Something Borrowed…Something New” represents a turning point in Greystone Canyon’s journey. As the title suggests, it’s a hybrid record – a mix of new original songs and hand-picked classics from the bands that shaped their sound, including Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, UFO, and Neil Young. The album bridges past and present, combining heartfelt tributes with fresh, road-worn originals such as “Drives Us,” “Friend of the Fox,” and “Stealing Our Freedom”.

Vocalist/guitarist Darren Cherry comments:

“This is our most honest record so far – real instruments, real performances, all captured live in one room. We wanted to remind listeners of the warmth and punch that only true rock bands can create together. It’s pure, old-school energy and we had an absolute blast making it.”

Following the success of “Iron & Oak” (2024), which reached #18 on the Australian iTunes Hard Rock chart and earned multiple 10/10 media scores, the band is poised to bring their music to a new global audience with a record that’s equal parts homage and evolution.

Recommended for fans of Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, and ZZ Top, Greystone Canyon‘s new album “Something Borrowed…Something New” is out December 5th, 2025

About: Greystone Canyon is an Australian hard rock band formed in Melbourne, known for their timeless blend of classic rock, heavy metal, and blues-infused energy. Their music draws on the spirit of 1970s and 1980s legends such as Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, Ozzy Osbourne, and UFO while infusing modern depth, dynamic arrangements, and heartfelt storytelling.

The band released their debut album “While the Wheels Still Turn” in 2018, earning critical acclaim from both Australian and international press. The record was named “Debut Album of the Year” by Australia’s national TV program The Hard Rock Show, and received outstanding reviews across the board – including 10/10 from Rock ’n’ Load Magazine and 99/100 from The Metal Mag. Supported by multiple singles and videos amassing over 450,000 views, the album firmly established Greystone Canyon as one of Australia’s most promising rock acts.

Their sophomore record, “Iron & Oak”, followed in 2024, entering the Australian iTunes chart at #18 for Hard Rock and #82 across all genres, as well as reaching #1 on CFUR North American college radio. The album was praised by the international rock media, with several 10/10 scores, and produced over 250,000 video views within weeks of release. The band also performed alongside US heavy metal pioneers The Rods, further cementing their reputation for powerful and emotionally charged live shows.

After years of honing their craft and refining their sound, Greystone Canyon return in 2025 with their third full-length album, “Something Borrowed…Something New” – a record that captures the raw, organic essence of a real rock band performing live together. Recorded at Black Lodge Studio in Melbourne with producer and engineer Joel Taylor, the album was tracked entirely live in one room, without click tracks or digital edits. The result is a vibrant, honest, and deeply musical release that mixes brand-new Greystone Canyon originals with hand-picked classic covers from the artists who shaped their identity, including Thin Lizzy, ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin, UFO, and Neil Young.

Frontman Darren Cherry, who also performed with Paul Di’Anno’s (ex-Iron Maiden) Australian touring band in 2024, leads the lineup featuring Richard Vella (guitars, vocals, keyboards), David Poulter (bass), and Sham Hughes (drums, keyboards, mastering). Together, they embody the spirit of traditional rock music – played with authenticity, precision, and passion.

With “Something Borrowed…Something New“, Greystone Canyon pays tribute to the golden age of rock while reaffirming their identity as a band devoted to tone, feel, fire, honesty, and organic sound. It’s a record that reminds listeners of what real rock ’n’ roll is meant to be — alive, human, and timeless.

Chilean Prog ENGRUPID PIPOL Unleashes New Concept Album “Quadragenta At Finem Mundi”

After more than three years of silence, Chilean instrumental trio Engrupid Pipol returns with their most daring and conceptually rich album to date: “Quadragenta at Finem Mundi.” A sonic prophecy told in seven acts, this 46-minute progressive metal journey explores the collapse of civilization and the rebirth of life through intricate compositions, raw emotion, and a sound that pushes the boundaries of the trio format.

Drummer Nacho García reflects on the band’s evolution.

“The work done on this album is incomparable to our two previous records, both technically and personally. On Engrupid Divais, we had found the sound we were looking for. This time, once we were in the studio, we realized we already had the sound we wanted; it just needed a few tweaks.”

The band focused on preserving the integrity of the trio format, avoiding overdubs that couldn’t be replicated live. The result is a modern, powerful, and crystal-clear sound, with each instrument retaining its warmth and natural tone. Acoustic guitars, synthesizers, and even the bombo legüero, a traditional Latin American drum, add depth and texture to the album’s apocalyptic narrative.

“Quadragenta at Finem Mundi” is Engrupid Pipol’s first conceptual album, and it demanded everything from its members. With funding from the Chilean Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Heritage, the band had the resources to elevate their recording, post-production, and promotional efforts, but also faced immense pressure to deliver.

“We had a deadline and only three rough demos. It tested us as a band and as friends. We had to devote a huge chunk of our lives to this process, writing, arranging, rehearsing, and reworking demos until the songs matured,” recalls Nacho.

Guitarist Kaztrol adds:

“This album was born from a different place than usual. It pushed us to our limits and presented obstacles we didn’t expect. Listening to the finished album is an auditory delight, a reward for our souls after all the effort and sacrifice.”

“Quadragenta at Finem Mundi” unfolds as a seven-act instrumental journey through the collapse and rebirth of civilization. It opens with “Tripel Ultimatum,” a high-adrenaline, riff-heavy track that introduces three survivors of a nuclear disaster. “Vorágine” follows with a whirlwind of acoustic chaos, mirroring the consumerist frenzy and environmental decay of modern society. “Animal Inteligenz” offers a satirical take on artificial intelligence as a new deity, exploring the decline of human intellect and the rise of evolved animals and machines. The fourth act, “Inspireichon Burn,” channels death-metal fury to depict the devastation of thermonuclear war and the greed of war profiteers, born from a spontaneous burst of inspiration. “Vairal Madnez,” the most collaborative track, critiques digital obsession, fake news, and biological warfare, and stands out as a favorite to perform. “Aztral Configureited” shifts the tone to cosmic reflection, imagining planetary alignment as life on Earth fades and a new cycle begins. The album closes with “Ameba Emenens,” a fully acoustic and introspective finale, where a lone ameba survives the apocalypse to restart life, offering a hopeful end to a dark and prophetic musical odyssey.

“Quadragenta at Finem Mundi” is more than an album; it’s a statement. A sonic warning. A cathartic release. And above all, a testament to the enduring power of three musicians who’ve spent nearly 25 years crafting their sound and pushing their limits.

Available November 7, 2025, on all major platforms, the album is recommended for fans of Liquid Tension, Rush, Megadeth, King Crimson, Night Verses, and Animals as Leaders.

FOR MY DEMONS Release New Single ‘Shades Of Past’ with Official Music Video

Volcano Records & Promotion is proud to present ‘Shades Of Past’, the new single by Italian progressive metal band FOR MY DEMONS, now available on all digital platforms.

Anticipating the upcoming album “Tristesse”, ‘Shades Of Past’ reveals the strength and character of a seasoned band that has been active on the Italian scene for several years and recently joined the Volcano roster.

Today, For My Demons return with renewed maturity and a distinctive sonic approach that blends progressive impulses with dark and introspective tones. The single is part of a broader concept dedicated to the life of Vincent Van Gogh, which the band is preparing to unveil. It tells the story of a fragile and troubled love, dominated by misunderstanding and guilt. Charity mistaken for sin, compassion turned into condemnation, betrayal, wounds, and miscommunication paint an oppressive scenario — like a nightmare that digs into the darkest corners of the human psyche. Shades Of Past is a deep and emotional track, and also a clear musical statement, combining solid instrumental foundations with haunting melodic vocal lines that leave a lasting mark.

Czech Modern Metal Force STELLVRIS Unleash New EP “Shatter and Bloom” and Music Video

Czech modern metal upstarts STELLVRIS unleashed their highly anticipated new EP, “Shatter and Bloom,” last Friday. Ahead of its official release, the band is premiering both the EP and a powerful new music video for the title track, a showcase of their signature blend of crushing heaviness, soaring melodies, and raw emotion, exclusively via Decibel Magazine HERE.

Formed in 2019 after an impromptu jam session led to their first live show at Prague’s iconic Music Club Modrá Vopice, STELLVRIS have quickly carved out a reputation for their powerful, emotional, heavy, melodic, and modern sound. With “Shatter and Bloom,” the band takes another bold step forward, pushing their sonic boundaries while staying true to the intensity that has fueled their rise.

Produced by Christoph Wieczorek at Sawdust Recordings, the five-track EP delivers a dynamic fusion of crushing breakdowns, electronic textures, and irresistibly catchy choruses. Lyrically, it dives headfirst into themes of destruction, rebirth, toxic relationships, and the struggles of modern life, all expressed with raw honesty. The journey begins with the title track “Shatter and Bloom,” a defiant anthem about tearing down what no longer serves and allowing something stronger to rise. “Silence After Violence” follows as a stark warning against the growing tide of aggression in society, even among the youngest generations. With “Monster,” the band turns inward, confronting the scars of toxic relationships while celebrating the strength it takes to break free. “Time’s Up” offers a sharp critique of living life solely online, disconnected from reality and responsibility. Closing the record is “Starships,” a heavy, metal-charged reimagining of Nicki Minaj’s pop hit, ending the EP on an explosive note of energy and fun.

“Shatter and Bloom is more than just a collection of songs; it’s about destroying what’s toxic and giving space for something new to grow. Every track reflects real struggles we’ve faced or witnessed, from toxic relationships to the rising aggression in society. We want fans to feel seen, empowered, and connected through this music. It’s heavy, it’s honest, and it’s meant to hit both the heart and the pit,” adds the band.

With “Shatter and Bloom,” STELLVRIS continue their evolution, delivering a record that is as cathartic as it is crushing, a testament to resilience, transformation, and the unbreakable spirit of modern metal.

Recommended for fans of Jinjer, Spiritbox, Holy Wars, Infected Rain, and I Prevail, “Shatter and Bloom” will be available on all digital platforms, along with Vinyl.

Omnium Gatherum releases tenth studio album May The Bridges We Burn Light The Way – Watch the new The Darkest City video now

Omnium Gatherum, one of Finland’s most successful international tourers, just released their album May The Bridges We Burn Light The Way, and the celebrations started a day prior with the song and video for The Darkest City, which you can watch here.

“The Darkest City is one of my personal favorites on the album, and when it comes after the three shorter songs, its cinematic nature and storytelling come into its own, also revealing the deeper side of the album,” says songwriter-guitarist Markus Vanhala.

“This song is heavy, demanding and rewarding at the same time, I love it. The Darkest City is the big sound of the songs on the whole album,” adds vocalist-lyricist Jukka Pelkonen, also thanking Soilwork’s Björn Strid, who produced the vocals on the album, for his contribution to the album.

In its structure, the band’s tenth studio album will kick the waters of Omnium Gatherum, which will celebrate its 30th anniversary next year, into a higher gear. The album was meticulously polished, and the reviews it has already received from around the world have been rave reviews.

“This is album number X, so we had to squeeze even more power out of ourselves, and I think we succeeded. We were able to take the old material polished into the future, and after the rather mid-tempo Origin album, it was worth putting a little more gas in the engine,” says Vanhala.

Omnium Gatherum, who also received an Emma nomination for their previous Origin, begun their world tour by performing as the headliner at the Hellsinki Metal Cruise, and the first major headliner tour of this album cycle will start in North America next week. After the Christmas break, the band will tour Finland, from where they will continue towards European clubs.

“We’re happy on the road, and I have to say it’s incredibly great to be able to perform these songs live for the crowd,” says Pelkonen.

“The calendar is full – just as it should be for us. We’ve just announced our first headliner tours in North America, Finland and Europe, and more are on the way. It’s a good fit for a band that is at its core an honest and sweaty live orchestra,” smiles Markus Vanhala.

Evergrey releases new OXYGEN! single with animated music video

Evergrey, one of the classic bands of the 90s metal scene in Gothenburg, released their new single OXYGEN!. The song showcases the band’s core strengths – crushing riffs and a dark, brooding atmosphere. The lyrics of the OXYGEN! single talk about depression, inner struggle and the price of survival. The song is released with an animated music video.

“OXYGEN! is full of crushing riffs, interesting key changes and soulful melodies. Lyrically, it reflects the oppressive weight of inner darkness, but at the same time the eternal fight for freedom and the breath of hope. This song is written in blood – and we can’t wait for our listeners to experience it. You’ve never heard Evergrey like this before,” the band commented.

Evergrey has revamped both the line-up and the production team – the new single features the band’s new drummer Simen Sandnes, and in addition to Tom Englund, the production team also includes keyboardist-producer Vikram Shankar (Within Temptation, Silent Skies). The mixing was done by Adan “Nolly” Getgood (Periphery, Sleep Token, Architects). The fresh and modern result is both dark and hopeful.

Evergrey is now preparing for a 32-date European tour on the road to Katatonia. The Italian-American Klogr will also be on the tour caravan.

Groove metal quintet WoR officially signs to BLKIIBLK and unleashes new video “The Revenant”

North Carolina based groove metallers WoR are proud to announce they have officially signed to BLKIIBLK. To celebrate the announcement, the band shares their punishing new single, “The Revenant,” alongside an official music video, available to view below.

On signing to BLKIIBLK, WoR shares:

“We’re excited for this collaboration with BLKIIBLK records and looking forward to sharing our new record with fans around the world. We feel very strong about all the new music and it’s exciting to work with the highly motivated folks at BLKIIBLK who share the same passion for heavy music and this project.”

On “The Revenant,” they add:

“‘The Revenant’ is a unique track that showcases the bands growth and development over the last five years. The lyrics, which are rather cryptic, were inspired by some of the darkest hours of this band, moments that only strengthened us and helped us in our relentless pursuit. The monster is finally here! Here to stay!”

WoR is a groove metal quintet from Raleigh, North Carolina, consisting of guitarists Ben Kaiser and David Nisoff, bassist Phillip Funderburk, vocalist Bobby Demoss, and drummer Raine Rumple. WoR was founded in 2018 by guitarist Ben Kaiser who at the time was concluding a collegiate football career playing offensive line at NC State University. WoR’s groove focused music takes influences from various subgenres of metal including groove metal, death metal, thrash metal, and metalcore.

By the spring of 2019, WoR had begun to debut their aggressive, chaotic, and extremely high energy live performances around the Southeast region of the United States, which was followed by the August 2020 release of their debut record ‘Prisoners.’ In 2021, after being delayed by the unfortunate events of a global pandemic, WoR finally hit the touring circuit in support of ‘Prisoners.’ The band toured relentlessly, building a strong following in the metal underground from coast to coast.

Tour markets included cities in California, Texas, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Washington DC, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Oklahoma, Tennessee, New Mexico, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Utah and Washington. WoR also reached Canada, with concerts in Alberta, Ontario, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

During the touring cycle supporting ‘Prisoners,’ WoR came to the attention of A&R representatives from Frontiers Label Group, a renowned global rock and metal label based in Italy. In 2024, after witnessing an especially intense live show in the band’s home base of Raleigh, the decision was made. When the label formed their new metal imprint BLKIIBLK, WoR was one of the first artists to be signed.

WoR stepped into the studio with renowned producer Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me) in 2024 to record a new full-length album which is slated for worldwide release on BLKIIBLK in 2026.

Heavy Metal Discovery WILLFIRE Unleashes “Inside Job”

Finnish heavy metal trio WILLFIRE has released a new lyric video for “Inside Job”, taken from their DIY album Homebrewed Recordings, out via Wormholedeath.

A slow-burning gut punch wrapped in crushing riffs and lyrical fallout, Inside Job unearths the wreckage of trust, power, and betrayal. The track drips with gritty emotion, where every line feels like a scar and every riff hits like a reckoning.

Hailing from Finland, WILLFIRE channels the raw spirit of heavy metal with a sound that fuses 80s rock, modern metal, and blues. Formed in 1998, the trio—Niko Hellsten, Tero Virolainen, and Marko Kuparinen—returned in 2024 with Homebrewed Recordings, a fully DIY album now reissued via Wormholedeath.

Brass horns and violence – Folkrim’s new single

Folkrim spits out the successor to their September-released “Jack In A Box” – single. While the previous single took a few missteps offroad, the now-released “Patchwork Throne” roars straight into the nettles.

“Jack In a Box was originally supposed to be a lone single,” Folkrim says, “but we decided to add fuel to the flames and hammer away while there’s hammering to be done.” According to the band, the early November release “Patchwork Throne” will continue in the footsteps of its predecessor: “The darker circus gear might have gotten stuck a bit and the result is this amalgamation of fairground music and death metal. This means more violence with a sprinkling of brass horns.”

“Patchwork Throne” is the second single from a five-song EP to be released in the spring 2026.

The mad wildmen of the Finnish western coast, FOLKRIM, offer a more modern grip on the stale circles of traditional folk metal. There’s death metal, delight and mayhem in store from the band whose roots are more closely tied to Children of Bodom than to Korpiklaani. Let the blastbeat and bass groove guide you through the ale-reeking bog into a bittersweet dawn.
